Just wanted to share a couple of pics with you all. I added the 4.8is front bumber and got her some new shoes (Replica 87's with Conti Extreme DWS). Next phase will be to replace all fender flares, add running boards and replace back bumper with a 4.8 bumper. Look for more pics come April. Thoughts?

wow looks great. I've been wanting to do the 4.8is front bumper for a long time now.

papasmurf 03-15-2010 05:50 PM

Looks good. Style 87s are the best.

Edit: Looks like you have 9.5 inch wide 87s on the back. Did it for rotation purposes?

SnoCat 03-15-2010 05:58 PM

No...those are staggered...10.5 in rear and 9.5 in front...

Naz24 03-15-2010 05:59 PM

are they OEM or Replicas? and what tires are those? The tread pattern doesnt look too familiar to me? do you like them?

SnoCat 03-15-2010 06:09 PM

The wheels are replica's. The tires are Conti Extreme Contact DWS. It's a new all season tire they came out with recently. Just got em...very pleased so far.

Where did you get the 87's ? How much ?

SnoCat 03-15-2010 08:22 PM

Got the replica 87's from wheelsandcaps.com. Paid $837 + shipping.

Double check the wheel width. I had a customer order from them about 2 months ago and instead of getting a 9.5" and a 10.5", he received 2 9.5" wide wheels. Just a word of warning.

Looks good....but then again I've always liked the look of the 4.6/4.8.

I suggest you get something to set it off from a standard 4.6/4.8 though - it could be something as simple as smoked lenses....just something a little different.

I think I agree with Papas, the wheels dont look staggered, rear 10.5 would have gone a bit lower and ofcourse wider! both sets looks identical, maybe its just the picture but definately they dont look staggered. I have 275/45/R20 front and 315/35/R20 rear... you can see the difference even 100m away.

I like the whole outlook, it looks great... I also think replacing my headlight to something smokey! But my wallet developed holes for now... not in a hurry.

I think it's just the shadows of the pictures obscuring the wheel depth. Look at the 2nd picture and and tire width compared to the front. It's definitely wider.

I'm seriously considering buying from them since i can't find used oem. How was your purchasing experience with them, any issue ? Fit and finish ?
And did you do a staggered setup ?

SnoCat 03-16-2010 04:34 PM

No issues whatsoever...Pretty smooth transaction. The wheels arrived on schedule and in good shape (no damage). No issues with the fit and finish. Yes, I did get the staggered set-up. Basically I saved about $700/wheel going with replicas over OEM's. I know the quality probably isn't the same but for that amount of savings you can just buy a new set-up of replica's every 2-3 years for what you would pay for OEM's. If I wasn't on a budget I would have definitely gone withe OEM's...
