What is this connector?
I've had a look to real OEM but can't find the part for my E53 3.0I: I have a connector located on the rear downside of the crankcase, just below where the engine joins the transmission, just above the swaybar. It brings 2 small wires only, which pass very close to the front driveshaft. Does someone knows what is this connector by any chance?

Probably a spare part. Just yank it off, I'm sure it's not important.

You could be right as one of the wires has been broken by the front drive shaft and nothing happened for the moment...;) However I really would like to know what it is for... please....

Hey I'm just joking around. Sorry I can't be of more help. Snap a pic and someone will probably be able to id it.
Otherwise definitely get rid of it, as it's definitely excess weight and more than likely killing your mpg average. |

So, here are the pictures. As said previously the connector is located at the rear/down end of the crankcase, just above the front swaybar. Its wire runs very close to the front drive shaft.
(yes I know that I have an oil leak to repair, this is the reason I'm asking what this connector is for!) |
Look like oil level sensor.
