passenger side external rear view mirror problem
This morning I clipped my passenger side external rear view mirror backing out of my garage door jamb. Mirror still tilts, etc., glass is fine but the plastic (?) mirror housing is cracked and seperated from the 1" black trim that surrounds the mirror. Note that mirror is from an 03 4.4 which does NOT have the folding (retractable) mirror option.
Questions: 1. Body shop job or dealer to deal w/ this? 2. Since the mirror isn't broken and the tilt/adjust mechanism still works as before i can I just order the housing and trim from whomever above and get things fix'd up? 3. Am I likely stuck purchashing the whole mirror assembly complete? |
the black ring? or the metal piece? if it's the black piece just go through the BMW dealer. You won't have to get a whole new mirror, just the part thats damaged.

You should be able to just replace the plastic shell. It'll need to be painted to match the vehicle. Order the part from the dealer and have a good body shop paint it for you. The two pieces just snap together, so you should be able to fix it yourself once you have the painted parts back in your hands.
