Temporary trailer lights
I have a hitch on my 2005 X5 but no wiring harness. I use it to haul tailgate supplies and bokes on a homemade rack. Now I have urgent need to pull trailer during the day and dealer has no stock of harness. Has anyone ever used tail lights as temporary wiring to meet minimum requirements for a day or two? Any ideas appreciated. I know uhaul has bulbs with auxillary wires attached but don't know what car would "think" about that added resistance.
Thoughts anyone? |
ECS tuning sells the OEM wiring harness kit over the web. It is fairly easy to install.
You can try a wire tap kit from U-Haul, they have worked for some posters. Others have had fault codes or problems with the lighting control module (LCM) and have had to remove the tap kits. The safe way is with the OEM trailer wiring kit. Will do when I have time but need today. May just borrow Tahoe though don't like the seats and ride. Thanks for the reply.
