X5 sport pack and winter tires

I was wondering if anybody has tried to put winter tires on a set of 285/45/19 and 255/50/19 that current models of x5 with sport package feature.

Something like the Pirelli Scorpion Ice and snow. They exist for these sizes but one wonders if they matter much when you have such wheels. And also how these perform during summer.

I know many of you will sugest to get a second set of wheels but in southern spain does not make much sense. However I would like to be able to drive when I go skiing.

Best regards from sunny Spain.

Near impossible to find a 285/19 snow tires. You may want to go with an high performance all season tire? Toyo Proxies

Of course the best is 2 sets of wheels but that may be overkill in your case.
Here is my set up!

Enjoy.

I have 2006 X5 4.4 Sport package 285/45/19 and 255/50/19 with
Michelin - Latitude® Tour HP .
I bough this set from Costco. My original set of tires is Michelin Damaris, they are good for street drive summer and rain. But they are no good in the winter. My car lost control while I was driving to Sierra to ski this winter.

I feel confident in the snow with Michelin - latitude. So far I'm happy with these tires.

I got winter tires 285/45/19 on 4.4 with sport pack. Tested them on highway covered in iced with drizziling rain - tires performed good.
Vredestein tires rock:thumbup:

I have 265/50/19 Pirelli Scorpion's on aftermarket 19x8.5" wheels on my X5. Although I have not had them in the snow yet - they perform quite well in cold rain, even with very heavy standing water. These are on my 4.6is. You could put these same tires on sport pkg rims too.

I took my S4 up skiing this week. I love driving that quattro in the snow so much I'm not sure if I will ever take the X5 - probably only if I have more than 1 other person with me. It is so fun to powerslide - the V8 + manual trans + quattro is a pretty unbeatable combo!! The Audi is a great 2 person + gear car. X5 could handle 4 with a roof box for some of the gear. But my kids are so busy these days they rarely come up with me.

thanks got the same setup too, sports package and 285/45/19 rear and 255/50/19 front, so we can put 'fatter' tires on these rims without any issues?
