Front Skid Plates
 

Anyone have the part # handy for the Decorative (also functional I guess) Skid plate that mounts under the front bumper? I searched the forum but came up empty.

Awesome, I totally want to get one of these for my X5.

This is the cheapest I found the part. Although I'm not familiar with the vendor... MRSP is $209, but only $168 here.

The only thing it is functional for is catching bugs and rocks...but I still like it!!

Just FYI, yes, it is plastic and you will have to have it painted, but it is very easy to install.

I plan on painting it and the hood grille (the black ones on top of the hood near the front window) the same colour.

Anyone have ideas on what colour to pick? I think a titanium or somethign like that would look best. But if anyone has an exact BMW colour code I could use, it would be appreciated.

PS. I want to get the headlight like yours. Are they available from a specific vendor you recommend? Are they compatible with the factory HID of a 2001 X5?

Great question... and a chance for me to bloviate! :D

I always IMO thought that painting the skid plate the same color as your X would look the best. both myself and X5Dawg have done just that. Dawg is white on white while mine is tit silv on tit silv. Sometimes when you go to a different color it just does not look right.... again just my opinion! :D

Either way the skid plate is a good call!

Yup. Even with shipping it saves me 5 bucks as I have to pay tax if I buy locally.

Rich, great point, and when I look at photos of x5's with the skid plate, I see that they do look best with the same colour as the truck.

I know there's someone on-line (x5girl maybe) that painted the skid plate, front grill and hood grills all the same colour and it looked pretty sharp. but I like your idea best and it will save me some cost on painting too!

I might paint it Matte Black to match the lower bumper area and have an understated look.

is there a skid plate for 2005 x5 4.4? there wasnt one listed on realoem.

Expect black on black i would say..

With a black car, IMO, it would look better in titanium with titanium grill and alu RB's...
