Hi, my driverwindow dont work, i hear the switch clik as it shuld and this sound disepear when i remove the socet under the switchcontrol on the door.
All three other doors work fine, this may be the switch or the el motor?
What is a windowregulator, is this an electric component or mecanic divice?
I see under how tos, and that looked like a metalframe whith wires, wil the el motor run if its the regulator who i understand is a comon problem?
All fuses are ok.

It sounds like your window regulator has let go. It is a mechanical device that is powered by an electrical motor. The electrical motor part is fine, just the mechancial part is not working as it should. This is almost always traced back to a plastic piece that has broken or cracked . . . either a plastic pulley or a plastic rail slide. You can get them aftermarket for around $80 but that doesn't include changing it out. My 5th one let go a couple of weeks ago. It's really a joke the way these things are made.

STOP PUSHING THE SWITCH! The broken cable from the regulator will get wrapped around it and tear up the motor... which is a $500 (USD) part!

Yes, the motor is trying to raise/lower the window (clicking sound) but the piece that is broken is binding up the mechanism. Like Michelle said, don't push the switch anymore or you could possibly affect the motor. Mine was stuck in the down position (like yours is probably too) until I got the new part in and dismanteled the door.

If your X sits outside and you can't afford to have the window down, you could remove the door panel and assist the broken mechanism with your hand to get it back up again. Of course there is a procedure for this that you need to follow closely to avoid any other issues.

No, the window is up. So thats no problem.
but the last few weeks the window has been working on and off, newer stoped open or in betwen, always from closed.
Pushing a few times it started and work ok.

Sounds like it's one of the rail clips that broke on the regulator track. This would allow the window to cock just a little bit and bind in the window guides. You're lucky it's up. I would keep it up until you are ready to fix it or there is a good possibility that it will get stuck in the down position like mine did. If it is going up and down with no problem then you are getting extremely lucky. Your luck will run out soon though.

Not sure about BMW part number because I never wanted to replace it with an OEM. OEM's cost 3 times the price and break just the same.

Hi, i now opend my door and everything looks ok but the motor dont run when i push the botton. I take the soket off the motor (down front door) and use an mutimeter: no power in socet from switchunit when pushing botten, all 3 other windows work fine. Do i need a new switcunit?

I went back and re-read your post from the beginning. First you said you can hear a clicking sound in the door but no window action which tells me window regulator. Now you are saying you don't hear a click at all? Which is it?

If it is your regulator that has malfunctioned, it usually will not go up or down because of the window being slightly cocked in its track due to misalignment of the regulator, because either a pulley has cracked or one of the rail glides has broken. These things are not easy to see while the regulator is in the door. If you have gone as far as to pull the panel off of the door, I would go ahead and remove the regulator from the door and inspect it. At that point you can also remove the motor from the regulator and plug it back into the socket and see if your motor will spin. At that time you will have answered all of your questions and know exactly what route to go.

Yes the clicking is in the switch itself, like when its auto up and stops whit a clic. This sound disapers when i remowe the socet under switchunit, but i agre that if window is stuck in close posision do to fail in regulator the switch wil shut off in a split second beliving the window is up or down.
I was a bit confused of not getting power (12V) in socet on motor when pushing button.

If you are unsure about the no power to the motor deal, pull the entire regulator/motor assembly out of the door (since it has to come out anyway) and remove the motor from the regulator and then plug the motor itself back into the socket to confirm. While regulator is out, inspect plastic pulleys and plastic track glides . . . that is where you will find your failure.
