Mine does the same thing but only when the doors are shut hard. If I close all doors normally, the hatch stays open. If I open it, then shut all doors, lock them, then walk away, the rear stays open. I would try adjusting the stoppers about a turn counterclockwise.

Its maddening. As the door shuts it increases the interior air pressure enough to lift the gate a hair, which then swings back down and latches.

The reason mine was acting funny was because of corrosion in the wiring of the trunk lid grip. But I've also had another problem like what you are explaining, if i try to open the trunk it will instantly close again. I believe that is because what HPIA4v2 suggested, try adjusting the trunk stops so they are sticking out a tad bit more so it doesn't re-lock itself when you try to open it. Also if you find out that there is corrosion in the wiring, and you decide to order the trunk lid grip, ECS tuning sells is for a $120 I believe. BUT make sure you order the gasket for it. On a serious note, to avoid the problem you need to have the panoramic roof open somewhat to prevent the pressure build up that causes the problem. However b/c you'll get wind buffeting noise at speed, you should also have a window cracked just enough to allow airflow to prevent it. Now make sure you don't leave the sunroof in that position for more than a day and certainly not in the heat or else you'll have a problem closing it and keep in mind that fiddling with the window too much might prematurely cause the window regular to crap out.

Honestly your best solution is to just leave everything closed, do not open the trunk, roof, or windows. Ever. Enter only through the driver's door and do it as gently as possible as though you were trying not to awaken a sleeping bear. Then all will appear on your car as if it functions perfectly and your passengers will never know.

Problem solved. No charge.

BTW, what year is yours? just curious.

OK I checked and my first hunch was correct, the trunk stops needed adjustment.
So here are the pictures I took, very easy less than 5 min job; use torx 25 to loosen the rubber stop then twist CCW until it's about 34mm, both sides. Make sure it's not too far out more than 36mm, then you'll likely get trunk lid not close message cause it won't latch securely. Now I can press the button from inside and the trunk stays open.
