which map upgrade??

Hi everyone.
I have just purchased a 2002 x5 and have the sat nav with a pretty basic view .250 yds zoom . it says v32 on the version and has a splash screen of bmw on entry it is a cd version with the television set to 16.9 and the option for split screen on the map. The actual disc in there says navteq 2002-2 . I understand this may be a silly question but which disc do i need to bring it up to date as i have looked and cant seem to find what disc to get there are so many. I have been told it is a mark 111 . What a car 4.4 ltr pure joy and gassed up .. Now time for gadgets which my wife thinks is stupid but what does she know ;).
thanks in advance
steve

If you have the Mark3, there is a limit to "being current."

The most current operating system is on the v32 disk, and when you use this disk to update your system, it will say "3 1/63..." This is the latest update for the Mark 3 nav system.

Since your system is not a DVD ( Mark 4 system) but a CD system, the map data disks come in a set of ten disks (or so)....

The latest disk set that I've seen is a 2005-2 version. (If someone has anything newer, chime in here...)

Now the question remains..... is a 2005 database good enough for you, or do you need something more current? If so, then you'll need to replace your M3 system with a M4 system. It'll run you $500-800, depending where you get it, and is plug-and-play with your current display and wiring. A new disk (DVD) from BMW will run you in the neighborhood of $200.
