Wow! Great photos.

X5rolls 04-26-2010 09:18 AM

looks amazing - I really like the tunnel shots

jst2878 04-26-2010 10:07 AM

Really awesome shots. Those angel eyes are what brand?

J.Belknap 04-26-2010 10:33 AM

Thanks guys, the weather was awesome yesterday, it would have been a sin if I didn't put some miles on the X. :)

jst2878, here's the link to the ones I bought.

Hit Redline 04-26-2010 10:38 AM

Those are some great shots. Any plans on blacking out those grills? How about some engine shots? Would like to see the supercharger in the 4.6 bay.

mrbmwx5 04-26-2010 10:40 AM

:wow:Awesome:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

J.Belknap 04-26-2010 10:50 AM

Thank you sir!

Thanks, my fiancee took them. :) No plans for the grills for now but I've been on the fence about the blacking out idea for a few months. For an engine bay pic, here's a link to an old thread I made. I don't really have a *good* engine bay picture.

TizPics, JBelknap!
Damn, she is good; I really like the higher contrast effect.
Does she use PS or Lightroom or, both?

Excellent in motion, pan shots!
GL, mD

chilliwilli 04-26-2010 11:18 AM

I think we should def' start our own "unofficial 4.6iS thread"...Awesome pics. Although you're S'charged...Sad to see the end of a great run with X5 performance N/A engines but looking forward to new TT tech :D

dpgx5 04-26-2010 12:15 PM

Ive always loved your pictures :) the 3rd picture belongs in the brochure for the e53 x5. :) what spacers did u go with F/R?

SLX5 04-26-2010 12:18 PM

David, she uses Corel PaintShop Pro. Glad you like the effect. I tried to verbalize to her the type of photo I was after, and she did her thing in post processing. She says learning the software is largely just tinkering around with the program, and that she learns something new with it every time.

Gotta love the new stuff coming out! I'm not going to lie, it's going to be a sad day for this X if it ever lines up with an M. (Unless I find a smaller pulley laying around somewhere. ;))

Good idea on a 4.6iS thread!

Thanks, that is my fiancee's favorite as well.

Previously, I had Front 9.5" with 10mm spacer (no flares) and Rear 10.5" with 25mm spacer.

As pictured, the Front is 10.5" with no spacer (with flares), and Rear 10.5" with 25mm spacer. There is only *slight* rubbing on the front part of the fenderliners at full lock. Heck, I wouldn't even say it rubs, rather, that the fenderliners are clean in that area. haha

Thanks! A Canon Digital Rebel XT (circa 2005).

DONONE69 04-26-2010 01:02 PM

Someone said on here that prefacelift x5's don't turn heads anymore:dunno:...There's not exactly a major difference between prefacelift and facelift so dont know what that was comment was about...

All i can say is this car looks the business..just perfect IMO, nothing over the top just all oem looking, iv got to get the wider ones for the fronts now, a big thumbs up for this mod

15mm spacers with the 87s look very nice from what iv seen...

jst2878 04-26-2010 01:35 PM

second to last picture is the shiznit. running 10.5's in the front?

I think the E70 don't turn heads at all.(Pacifica look alike.) E53 is the best looking SAV on the road.

motordavid 04-26-2010 03:16 PM

JB,
The photo lady is your fiancee, correct?
How did you two do in that contest we
all voted for?

J.Belknap 04-26-2010 03:27 PM

David, she is, and thank you all for voting, and we received a consolatory $25 gift card. Again, I appreciate the time taken to support us in the running.

I'm trying to convince her that we should get married in a parking lot of the Virginia Beach city park, have all our car friends there, bar-b-que it up, and as we depart in our 3000GT Twin Turbo cars (how we met) we'll leave matching tire marks on the asphalt. She said "she'll think about it". haha I think she wants a classic girly wedding.... and that's cool. :)

yes.

Weasel 04-26-2010 03:41 PM

I think I'm gonna hold off on getting new tires for the 20's and keep riding the 18's till I get another pair of 10.5's for the front and go this route... then I'd finally have that pesky understeer problem licked!

RichiRich 04-26-2010 04:19 PM

Beautiful! X!!

just right click on the image , "save picture as" (re-name it if you want), then save it to the location you would like the image to go....

Right click on the mouse and set as background.

J.Belknap 04-27-2010 03:08 PM

amacman, good eye! Oddly, the dent isn't as noticeable in person. Still, I'll look into what is required to remove the trim, pull the dent, and replace the trim attachment hardware. I imagine it's plastic clips that will break as I pull it off. Hopefully they are separate, and I won't have to order a new door ding trim piece. Then I'd have one new-looking trim piece and be forced to get an entire set. :p Thanks for the good words all.

Stevev 04-27-2010 04:27 PM

Yeah. Good luck with that one. ;)

Very good pictures. My compliments to your fiance.

Cheers,

amacman 04-27-2010 07:52 PM

at pic 2 I thought I noticed the dent and pic 3 I thought OMG .
it`s more noticeable with the road marking reflection .
would you post on this thread how you go about removing the dent because my daughters car has a smaller but sharper dent on the rear quarter .
I have removed shallow dents on cars by placing a hand on the outside and gently rubbing with pressure on the inside .
don`t like to tackle dents with a sharp crease in case I split the paint .

do you feel a difference with the 315`s on the front .

It pushes a lot less, I think you'll be well pleased with it :)

I think that there's some sort of optical illusion going on.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...5/IMG_1905.jpg

There is a *slight* dent that I had to look for. The door ding strip seems fine. In any case, it's so minor, that it's a low priority for me to have repaired. (Only to have it happen again in a parking lot the next day) But, if I ever do decide to pull it, I will take notes from the professional and post a how-to. :)

There is a lot, and I mean a lot more road noise from the tires (I just turn the music up), steering is affected more by the ruts in older roads, and understeer is all but gone.

The brake pedal bushings came in from UUC today, so I'm going to put those in and hopefully report that pedal feel is no longer sloppy. Do your guy's brake pedals feel wobbly from side to side?

Man, that is a sweet ride.

x5pdx 05-14-2010 11:20 AM

What amazes me is that VA has no dust or you have a dust force field around your car. Great pics and nice shine on your X.

J.Belknap 05-14-2010 11:31 AM

Thanks Forster and gax5. :)

Thanks x5pdx, we got our fair share of pollen down this way...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...p/0a9a7358.jpg

I was at the allergist's office yesterday actually... I'm a sneezing, itchy-eyed mess.

The X was washed right before the shoot, and any pollen after must have been post-processed out of the picture. It was all dolled up for only a few minutes. Kind of like those "Glamour Shots" from the 80's, haha.

Wow :wow:

I haven't been on here for a while and look what I stumble upon.
Sensational to say the least. Brochure worthy pics

I've also got Coreldraw but I'll be damned if I can use it that well.
