Problem with right side mirror. Won't return after reverse.

I searched but found no definitive answer on this problem. When I place the car in reverse, the mirror dips just like it's supposed to. However, when I shift back to drive, the mirror only returns halfway back up leaving me to stare at the pavement. Is this a motor drive problem or module problem? Has anybody done this fix themselves? TIA (again).

I have the same problem.. I just switch it off since it does not really bother me. I'm interested however to know if there is a quick fix to it. Good luck, and I'll try to search that link also..

Motor is dying. Change the motor. Around $150 for the part.

Mine will do that intermittently as well. I'll go one further, most times it will go up and down about 7 times before staying down. By that time, I'm already done parking. I just leave it off now. I did stupidly hit a curve three days ago though, on new tires.

New motor: $82.80

Is it difficult to replace?

1st, i can't imagine once you're inside the mirror that it would be difficult to replace. the link for getting inot the mirror is here http://www.xoutpost.com/attachments/...g?d=1172692777 good luck.

Link doesn't work. What p/n are you referencing b/c that sounds like too low a price.

It doesn't show a part number. Just 00-03 mirror motor right or left. Now I'm confused, I changed to an 05 model and searched for the same motor and came up with Mirror motor right or left 00-06 for MSRP $197.60 and $148.20 after discount was applied :dunno:.

You'll need the repair kit and a few cable connectors (61-138-353-746).

RealOEM.com BMW E53 X5 4.4i Electrochromic outside mirror,bright-bl.
