Yup- Run flat. Much harsher riding, different sidewall etc.

how are the duelers in snow conditions?

X5 Meister 04-30-2010 11:21 AM

That's correct; that's why I said fundamentally.

I'm saying that if you compare the cost of the Turanza's to the Diamaris to a tire that was chosen for an ultra high performance SUV (the X5 M) the Dueler is the cheapest of all 3. Yes the X5 M uses that tire in its run flat variant, but I'm sure that once those wear out, the owner's will all switch to non-run flats, just like they all seem to do, and when they do so they will more than likely pick the same tire, and be amazed that it is cheaper than a Diamaris or a Turanza (OE E53 tires). Wow, what a run-on sentence!

Havne't tried conti's but toyos are definitely loud. I have diamaris now with smooth, quiet ride.

If you have Diamaris's now, you'd be amazed at how much better the Bridgestones are. I got rid of my Diamaris's for these and the Bridgestones are quieter, better riding, better in the rain, and better handling. Oh, and cost a lot less. The only thing the Michelins did that the Bridgestones don't is make lots of noise.

This is exactly the kind of advice that if excellent to hear. Do you have any experience with the OE Turanza ER30's?

Sorry can't help there. Ran through 2 sets of the staggered 19" Diamaris's before swapping to the Bridgestones. World of difference in my book.

Nevertheless great advice. I am going to end my Turanza pain in the near future and was planning on going with the Diamaris, until I discovered Michelin had it's head up it's butt. A half dozen e-mails to them and a half dozen calls to tirerack have so far yielded a wealth of conflicting information. I'm also considering Vredestein, but a little concerned about wear and was hoping to get a good deal from Phil, but he is mute on the subject. These Dueler's sound like a good option, even though the name sounds stupid!
