Bad radio reception....from TINT?
Ok, so my antenna seems to have poor reception. So I brought it to the dealer.
They say, that my TINT is the reason i get poor reception. Myth or fact? |
Did you recently tint the window yourself or at a professional or something?

Some tints contain metals or minerals which can interfere with AM reception. Ask them about that.

AM reception is know to be weak in X5's. See unclemotor's post on a fix for AM radio reception (http://www.xoutpost.com/articles.php?...ticle&artid=20)

You can request to have just that window with the antenna to be tinted with non-metallic film. That's what they did on mine and so far hasn't had any problem with radio receptions
|
It's a fact. Your radio antenna is built into the glass. So the moment you tint your glass with reflective tint, it affects your reception. You can go with non-reflective tint, but those can fade over time...well, we're talking about years. So go with that. The reason reflective tint interferes with your reception is because reflective tint contains metal in it, which is what makes it reflective, and the metal disrupts the signal reception.

So...the Stlr does the tint job, yet shrugs or footdrags on the diagnosis and fix?
One would think they, the Stlr, might have had a clue before the tint job, or a method of dealing w/the potential radio antenna impact. IFly ref'd my AM radio fix...it is a Real stealth "repair" that few dlrs or BMW want/will admit exists. I had mine done, but the AM portion of the improvement has "eroded" or diminished over time and in some situs. (Not a huge AM fan, so I'll live w/it.) If you're exp AM and FM probs., that aftermkt tint job is 99% the culprit. GL arm wrestling w/your genius Stlr. md |
