Does additional water pump fail?
 

I am going to replace all the hoses on my cooling system (M62). I am also going to replace the water valve. Do I have to replace the auxiliary water pump as well? It works ok now (180k km) but I am wondering if I should do it or not. Did anybody have any problems with it?

180km on the original water pump? I would definitely change it while you are doing all the other hoses. Might as well do the valley pan gasket while your at it. the m62's cooling system is amongst the worst.

I was referring to the auxiliary water pump, sorry my mistake. I did change the water pump and all the gaskets but I didn't have the hoses at that time.

the only ones ive done are for noise complaints(wumping noise) in the cabin, if its not making noise, dont worry about it.

My aux water pump crapped out about 1k ago at 54,000 miles. It was making LOTS of noise and then died.
