Best bet. Kw Coilover variant 3 setup and delete the air suspension. I'll have pics up soon. U can only lower your x one inch in the rear with air suspension.

Previous owner did it, but it has H&R sport springs up front and is computer lowered in the rear (re-programmed). Total drop is about 1.5 inches in front, and the rear was leveled to the front. I have no idea on how it handles compared to stock height because this is the only 4.6 I've driven. If someone can give me the measurements from the top of the fender to the ground on a stock truck I can give exact measurements.

I will do it when I get home over lunch, but whats the standard height? By the way you guys dont you think the height from fender to ground is also a subject of your tyre profile, even fender to tyre????...

Normally, yes, but since we have the same wheel/tire combo (315/35/20 in rear and 275/40/20 in front) it should be equivalent. Besides, even with different wheels and tires the measurements will be different from the fender to the top of the tire. The only consistent measurement would be from the top of the fender to the center of the hub.

Yes I have noticed we share the same configuration, the measurements will have the same baseline.

Yeah right fender to hub should be universal to all.

Will come and post my measurements...

the Bentley manual gives ride heights for all models , sport , non sport , rear air , full air , full springs .
they and BMW measure from the lowest point on the wheel rim to the wheel arch through the hub centre line . I do not know if the rim lip would vary on replica wheels .
I suppose the method you suggest using is ok for anyone doing similar comparison .

for example , my 2002 sport measures approximately 30 inches from the lower rim to arch on 20 inch rims so from hub centre to arch will be 20 inches if I subtract half the rim size .
I am only posting this to try to avoid any confusion to anyone reading this thread .

yes measure from the bottom of the rim not the ground. everybody has different tires and pressure

OK here we are, I measured. I got the following:

(a) From fender arch to upper rim is 8inch
(b) From fender arch to lower rim 29.25inch
(c) From fender arch to wheel hub 19.25inch

papasmurf 05-13-2010 06:42 PM

Front:

Top of arch to top of wheel: 6 (6.00")

Rear:

Top of arch to top of wheel: 6 1/4 (6.25")

I could not find my tape measure, so I did it with a regular metal 1 foot ruler. So apparently mine is a 1 3/4 drop in rear? H&R claims a 1.2 inch drop in front, but considering that they have some age and mileage on them, if it's a bit more I would not be surprised. Rear lowering was done via a BMW tech's computer and the previous owner yelling out STOP when he hit the desired height. All I know is that it looks good.
