O2 Oxygen Sensors?
Okay, So recently I discovered that my MAF sensor needed to be replaced, I discovered so by disconnecting the MAF and feeling such a difference within the feel of the X that I honestly did not even imagine a sensor could create.
Now that I am replacing my MAF I was wondering if changing my O2 sensors (Oxygen Sensors) would do any good for the X? Would I feel any difference? The X is an 01, 4.4i with 122k. and if so, how much would you expect replacing the O2 Sensors would cost at a very good indy ? Thanks! |
If your not getting a CEL i wouldn't worry about it for now. I changed mine and didn't notice any difference I got the OEM Bosch and the pre cat is about 72 bucks I think? Post was 90 or the other way around, but whatever its not cheap. You can do this yourself its not hard at all, just spray the area with PVC blaster to loosen where the sensors screw on and then you can remove easier!

My wife also agrees, she can even do it....

Is it really that simple? Can someone point me towards a D.I.Y post please? I always figured the O2 Sensors were hard replace for some reason.

Try this, it's pretty much the same. |
A bad O2 sensor will trigger a engine light warning on your dash and you will also notice a rich smelling exhaust (although I heard it can also cause a lean burn as well).
Anyway it was a royal pain in the azz on one of my M3's. |
Agree, super easy to replace. I found them cheap online, searched on the forum and went to a site recommended by another member. Was around a $100 for both as I recall.
Found the link for the O2 sensor and they are $73 each. Bosch Before Catalytic Converter Oxygen Sensor Direct OE Replacement, 4-wire, Heated This tool would help. HTTP://www.bavauto.com/shop.asp When I went to change mine, they were so loose I removed them with no tool, just by hand. Initially I felt better throttle response after installing the new o2 sensors. The sensors have a suggested replacement of 100,000 which you are over. |
This was totally wrong!!! How were you able to remove (oxygen sensors) located at the catalyst muffler by hand without using tools....
However I'm struggling with mine to replace, I was finally able to change one yesterday but the other one @ the front by the passenger side seems to be hell welded to the muffler. And I'm having big difficulty to get access to this one to remove it. Now the O2 sensor head become a little loose and wont come out easily, even after using 3 differents spray to loosen the part. |
