NEED HELP BAD!!!!!!!!!
Hey everyone your help and expertise would be gratefully appreciated here.
I am locked out of my BMW X5 3.0i. The battery in my key is dead and the driver's door is the only door that you can use your key on. Any way's that too is broken. When i turn the key nothing happens so like i said i am locked out. Even AAA couldn't get in there. THANX IN ADVANCE, Henry:dunno: |
Oh yeah it's a 2003 if that helps. Thanx

First, take a metal coat hanger and make a J.
Next, all you have to do is put the coat hanger in between the window and the door and try to get it to latch on a hook. Then, pull up on it so that it pulls the window lock up, which should hopefully unlock it. Then you can open the door handle by pulling on it. The area you are targeting is just above the door latch. Your alarm will most likely go off if your battery is good and if your alarm if armed. It will take you some time to find the right location, but it shouldn't be too bad. Just work the area carefully with a coat hanger and pull up carefully. You will know when you get the right area because it will only take about 2 inches of up pull to move the lock. |
BMW's have double locking, so I doubt the coathanger trick is going to work. This isn't the best time to ask, but why wouldn't you have fixed the door handle and/or lock before this happened...I can't stand people that don't take care of their cars, moving on. Hopefully someone will chime in on how to jumper some connections to make the alarm deactivate, it can be done.

First off, dont panic there is indeed away to enter your X. It has been done before, just wait for someone who can PM you with assistance i guess.

charge your key on a portable house phone charger for a few hours and then go pick up your vehicle.

How about the graphite Key that fits in your wallet.
It's needs no battery. I used it yesterday. OOps I just noticed you tried the key and the door is broken which has nothing to do with weather the key is charged or not. Sorry.....:dunno: |

Assume the best, prepare for the worst........
He said his door is broken so a key is useless right? |
Not if he can get the alarm to unlock the car and open one of the other doors. There is a way to deactivate the alarm, but as KingSimon said, someone has to PM it to him so the information doesn't get spread all over the web and used maliciously.
|
What about holding the key in the unlock position to open the windows? If that doesn't work the battery may be dead or something... and that required some PM instructions. Let me know what happens with the windows down trick.
If the windows go down you will need to press the unlock button on the center console to release the double lock then pull the inner door handle twice to open the door. This will activate the alarm, but hopefully it will shut up when you turn the key on. |
I'm not sure what he meant by the drivers door is broken and he said that when he turns the key, nothing happens...so I can only guess that both the handle and keyhole are INOP. The battery in his key is dead, so either it's an extra key that needs to be recharged (driving w/ the key is best, toothbrush charging station as a backup plan in this case to give it juice), the battery needs to be replaced (Radio Shack or eBay for the proper battery), or someone needs to PM the tip on how to disable the alarm. After that, I hope it's a learning lesson to quit being cheap and fix the door handle and key issues, that from the sounds of it, have been put off so long that now it's biting him in the ass. Live and learn.

What did you end up doing? I hope you didn't go the broken window route? Time to hop onto www.car-part.com and spend some time in http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/ section to replace that door handle issue before it haunts you again.
