Chopped Tires
 

I bought a set of take offs for my X, long story short I road force balanced them 3 times and there is allways a vibration on them. I went to wheel and tire only shop and they figured out what was wrong. The tires are chopped, possibly from a bad alignment on the previous car. Tires have less than 5k on them, they are Michelin Latitude run flats from a X6 sport. Do you think they will even out or do I need to shop for new tires. Thanks.

Throw them out and start over.

Get new ones. Get the Vredestein's that there is a group buy on and you'll get a great deal.

By 'chopped' do you mean cupping wear? I've had that happen to mine twice. I think its more likely to happen with the wide tires that are on the X5. Worn suspension parts can also lead to this wear.

Once you get this kind of wear, I haven't seen it go away. It only gets worse. You can try to change the alignment, tire pressure, etc. but I haven't had any luck with that. The noise and vibration just got worse for me and aggravated me everytime I drove.

Start over with new tires. Get a good alignment. Check your suspension for wear.
