What is this....and this?
1 Attachment(s)
Two questions...I have a broken hose (A) coming off of my intake tube. just wondering if anyone knows the name or part number for it so I can get a new one. The other (B), I know even less about. The hole is threaded but I cannot figure out what goes there if anything. I have had a problem with my X bogging when accelerating below 2500 rpm, and revving from idle, could either of these be the cause? My SES came on as well. Is there a way to pull the error w/o an obd scanner? Sorry for so many questions, but BMW has until recently been out of my price range. BTW my X is a 03 4.6

go to realoem.com and see if you can find it via the diagrams?

Thanks that answers one of my questions...any thoughts on the other?

It may just be a spot to bolt on a clamp or something.
One of the 4.6 owners should be able to check for you |
The vacuum line is likely the reason for the SES light, and hopefully the reason for the bogging. The threaded hole would be for a bracket to hold something, like the metal cross pipe between heads for the secondary air system. If there is nothing there, no big deal... likely not used.

on the mystery hole, after the X had cooled down some, ran a few minor tests on at and it seems to have vacuum, i no longer have a vacuum gauge so used a thin piece of paper and it would get "sucked" to it there is also really thick oil residue built up on the radiator house directly in front of the hole???

the leak at "A" would let un-metered air into the intake so prob for the poor running and probably poor braking too. as for "B" i wonder if it has anything to do with the EGR system, i will check my 4.6 when i get home.

Hole b is plugged with a screw, has a torque pattern as opposed to a Philips or flathead

Snapped a pic of item B in questions, as posted above its a screw with a torx pattern.
