What do you guys think of the E3 spark plug?
Just as the title states. Searched and didn't find any info here on the forum regarding these plugs. They are reasonably priced and quote a 5 year 100k warranty.

I would stay away from them, if you want to change out your spark plugs stick with the Bosch & NGK spec plugs for our engines.

I love the claims, more power, less emissions, makes you better looking. Ok, maybe not the last one but still.

According the the E3 manufacturer site, the E3.48 is the plug model to replace the NKG BKR6EQUP. Problem is, the E3.48 is also the plug to replace hundreds of other NGK spark plugs. If one spark plug spec was appropriate for all those NGK plugs I think NGK would have done it that way in the first place. Makes you wonder how much time E3 spent matching the design specs your engine needs.

Which is better, NGK or Bosch?

On my 3.0i, I had better results with NGK's over Bosch plugs.
And on the E3's.....NAH. There's nothing wrong with using factory replacements. If spark plug technology was really THAT advanced or improvements were able to be made, all major manufacturers would have done so. A spark plug cant offer much more than what its designed to do....Provide a spark. Reasonably priced or not, there's not much reason to purchase "super" plugs that claim they can do what any other plug out there cant. |
The thing about the E3 design is that you'd have to index it just right to get desired spark direction aimed at fuel spray, and even indexed like that it wouldn't offer any improvements over the OEM plugs. Gitchy plugs like that are just like the special "fuel saver magnets" etc. Over marketing an inferior product to make it seem like more/better than it really is.

I like NGK. Just put a new set in.

Recently I put in NGK Iridiums based on feedback from most members here. If I had to go through it again, I would probably have purchased the NGK from the dealership at double the price.
The reason why is when I am at a stop I notice the car idles a bit differently. It doesn't really rev up and go down but it feels as it is going to. But when I am driving, I cannot complain...I do feel the power of the new plugs. |
