Well guys, its been fun reading but...

my X is no more. This past Saturday, i was the victim of a carjacking. After a little tussle with the guy, this is the result. I was at a car wash standing right next to the car, when this young prick had the balls to jump in and try to pull off! I guess he didnt know how to drive an automatic, because he put it in neutral, hit the gas and went nowhere. I opened the door, grabbed him by his hair and neck, and tried to rip his head off! This is when he found the drive gear, and floored it dragging me about 50ft before i let go. The guy drove directly across the street into a telephone pole, wrecked my car, jumped out and into another car with 3 of his people and sped away. Understand that by no means did I try to save the car, it was just the principal and a reaction I never dreamed i would have. I am not rich, just a small business owner that works his a$$ of for everything he has. This car and everything in it did not come easy to me, so I'll be damned if anyone takes it from me that way. I got a few burns, scrapes, and bruises from the drag, but mission accomplished. My X is not M.I.A., but still in sight until i send her off. I know what I did was dangerous in so many ways and would not advise this type of action. Although i would understand it completely. Anyways, this forum has been very helpful from the pics, to the stories, to the tutorials and members. Good luck guys. As for tomorrow, Im going to pick up a "new to me" 2007 M6 coupe. I'll try to post pics soon. Thanks again

oh no! Sorry for your loss. Hope you are feeling better.
I wish you prosperity

PersonaNonGrata 05-21-2010 01:59 AM

Wow! :wow: Of course the best news is that you were not more seriously injured. I'm not going to second guess your reaction and appreciate your comments about it. We never really know what we'll do until the situation arises.

Your X looks awful and it is a shame. (Although there are lots of parts that can be salvaged.) She was a beauty but you're on to a different sort of beauty. Best of luck with it and don't be a stranger.

TheGodfather 05-21-2010 01:59 AM

That is terrible!

I think you will be feeling better in no time in your M6!!

Cole 05-21-2010 02:33 AM

Good on you mate... I'm sure you scared the crap out of the hoodlum, pitty you didn't actually rip his head off. If more of us had the courage to fight back there would be less of this car jacking nonsense to contend with...

Nik 05-21-2010 02:51 AM

wow, how sad... most important thing is that you'r ok, so, don't worry. good reactions by the way :) as for car it looks poor :( but you'll have fun with M6.

:iagree:

and i whould still love to get that X of yours. :)))

jst2878 05-21-2010 07:31 AM

Too bad they didn't catch these Mofos. What color were these thieves? I would love to be on a special law enforcement team that brutally murders people like this. No mercy. Goodluck with your m6

jyosh 05-21-2010 07:51 AM

Good lord, that front rim is down to the hub, insane, glad ur ok!

powers1 05-21-2010 07:59 AM

How awful!Really sorry to hear about this.I am sure you feel better for your actions and although the X5 is "dead",..your bravery ,made sure they didnt take away.I have to agree with whats been said here! These bast***s,wreclking what people worked very hard for, should be shot...painfully!

Really bad experience for you ,I am sure, but I wish all the best with the M6.

Weasel 05-21-2010 08:10 AM

Jeez, I hope they flip the car they got away with into a lake or something... I'm sure the X will be missed, but that M6 is a beauty of a beast and I'm sure it will be love at first drive.

But look at it this way, at least you're getting retail worth for your X5 through insurance vs trying to sell it in the future.

TheKingSim0n 05-21-2010 08:13 AM

wow that's awful, thankfully it was your X and your fine. I fully understand what you mean when you state that it doesn't come easy for you to get the X and all that and I feel sorry for you dude.... Wish ya all the best with the M6!

~ Good luck and happy healing...

DrunkenNinja 05-21-2010 09:18 AM

Thats a train wreck, It's heatbreaking then Sh!t like that happens after working so hard with mods etc...

No doublt you wanted to tear the little worm apart, not sure what the deal is with the X now....

I guess it's covered but at what cost, looks like a write off to me and generally they pay peanusts... There are certainly a lot of salvagable parts for the pirates out there though...

Good luck with the new M6 Soldier and thanks for sharing your story...

nra0707 05-21-2010 09:35 AM

Wow...glad you're ok. Sad state of affairs when carjacking punks are that brazen. At the very least, you administered some justice on the kid.

FSETH 05-21-2010 09:52 AM

Wow! Glad you are OK and that the bastard didn't get your X. I am not going to second guess your judgement to go after the that a-hole either. Those kinds decisions are made in a fraction of a second and who knows what I would have done in the same situation. It is much easier to say "you should have just let them take it" after the fact. I actually wish you could have ripped him out or landed a few shots on him.

Good luck with your new M.

Those 4.8is wheels looked great on your X, by the way.

Casey's 2003 X5 4.4 05-21-2010 09:56 AM

I hope you see him again and kick all of his teeth out of his head then cut his ears and finger off with a skill saw....

It sounds as if the vehicle was running while you were standing next to it. Is that correct? If so could you give a little more detail as to what you were doing? Might be helpful to everyone so we can avoid doing it too and minimize the risk of this happening to us.

gax5 05-21-2010 11:34 AM

Oh man, so sorry to hear about that. Glad you are okay. Cars can be replaced but you can't.

1stE53 05-21-2010 01:51 PM

Too bad guns are not legal in NJ. I carry one everywhere. You never know. Sometimes I think it would be worth something like that happening to me just so I can catch them doing it!!! Can't wait to see the M pictures. Good luck.

rayxi 05-21-2010 02:23 PM

That's a crazy situation to be in. Glad you're ok. Did you ID the getaway vehicle for the police? Hopefully the law will catch up to those low-life punks.

cmyX6go 05-21-2010 02:25 PM

That really sucks! Everytime I'm at the carwash waiting for them to finish I think about someone trying to hop in and take off. Glad you're OK.

I'm in NJ also, where did it happen?

tonycajjo 05-21-2010 02:59 PM

WOW!

:iagree: I want to know where exactly this happened also, since I go to a couple of different carwashes in NJ. Would be good to get a description of the punk so I know who to look out for. I am betting they'll try this trick again at a carwash, since that's when it's easiest to hop into an unoccupied vehicle and floor it. Please post a follow-up.

What did the cops tell you regarding this "crew"? Have they received other reports from the northern NJ area?

edco 05-21-2010 05:17 PM

Me THREE..

Which car wash was this.. ?

I actually go to an "ole fashioned" place on Central Ave in Metuchen where you still sit in your car through the process. If I get out to inspect anything or help with the wipe down, I shut it off and take my keys.

What's happening with the X5..? Are you looking to part any of your mods or has the insurance company already swooped in..? Maybe I can help buy some gas for your new M6, especially since you are local to me...

I'm glad you are OK

TaMbALoLoNg 05-21-2010 05:56 PM

My condolences.....come back soon.

Werewolf 05-21-2010 06:33 PM

That will buff right out....

Well, I actually had a good enough grip on the punk where I could have pulled him out of the car, but during the tussle, he was trying to reach for his waist area. for what. I don't know, but that was enough for me. its amazing how many things can go through your mind in a split second. my first thought was being shot because of a car. whether i survived or not, my principals remain the same, but its nowhere near worth it. i do believe in karma though

X5 Meister 05-22-2010 02:21 PM

Yeah, what car wash was this and was it one of those self service places? Any chance the place caught any of this on tape and may be able to id the car with the punks in it on video?
