windshield tinted & front windows
 

After five years I finally decided to cover the front door windows with 35% to match the rear doors. I also decided to tint the front windshield with 50%, i know some say its a bad idea but it really isnt. Instead of spending 780.00 on the comfort glass It only cost about 80 for the windshield tint. the drivers view on the road is perfectly visible.....35% would have been overkill.

I like it i am in for windshield and i have 35% front to match rear windows.

What are you going to do about the inspection and registration stickers?

They are a pretty hard to peel off clean after its been on for a year or more. I usually need a razor.

If you were in Calgary you dont need to show your car to no1 just call ins company and have them fax the pink slip and go online renew your registry and there u go all the papers are done dont need to anywhere lol

I disagree. I think it is a terrible idea. No ability to make eye contact with the driver from outside, which makes it less safe for other drivers (and especially cyclists). Nothing that can't be fixed by noting down license plate numbers and calling them in, but we shouldn't have to.

Took you five years huh...took me about 5 days. Not too sure about the windshield tint though, its a no no here in Cali.

Looks great and just the right tint level. My front windshield is tinted as well at 50% and it isn't really noticeable, but makes a big difference inside when its bright out. I was just pulled over the other day for speeding and the cop didn't even notice the front windshield being tinted, but did notice no front plate.

Now you just need to change the head lights. Hate those waffles in the headlights, looks dated.

My tint specialist gave me vinyl clear decals that you stick the reg and inspection to and then the vinyl decal sticks to the windshield. no tape or glue involved and you could peel it off a hundred times if you wanted to

Surprised by your confusion. Surely you understand that the law against tints ahead of the B pillar, which exists in many states and provinces, is due to the inability of others outside the vehicle to see the driver, and to satisfy themselves that the driver sees them. It has nothing to do with whether or not you can see out. Pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists are especially vulnerable. The law is there for a reason. Perhaps there is no such law where you live, but you have New York plates, and NY tint laws are pretty much the same as elsewhere.

It really does not matter if someone outside sees in. I'm a very aware driver and always brake for bicyclists and pedestrians. If your a bad driver u will hit someone no matter what your front windshield is covered with. Totally invalid point, IMO

Looks, nice. BTW, they have clear films these days for windshield which block just as other tint films and no one knows you have it.;)

Clear film with uv protectant? Sounds interesting. That's all I really wanted was the reduction of glare

You make white look really good. I like your rims with the tinted windows.

Your right suave, jcl has a valid point but the way the tint helps reduce glare is safety enough for me. It looks soo much darker in the pics but u can visibly see me just as well as someone with comfort glass. 35% would be overkill.

looks good, Not allowed here in canada for the front atleast in ontario...i'm going to do my front sides...any idea was the lightest available? i have factory glas on the back and rear sides...need a really light shade to match....

35% matches perfect, but 50% is slightly lighter but will look way better than clear standard glass

Hows that tint on the front windshield do with the Defrost on? any hiccups or problems getting the windows defrosted properly in a timely fashion?..Also, with the defrost on, is there any peeling or premature bubbling taking place on that tint film?

It looks great but unfortunately its not legal here in NYC so id get pulled over alot for it...

Is it really about pedestrians and motorcycles? I thought it was more about the po-po and their inability to see Justin reaching for his 0.45 ACP.:cool:

In any event, I don't think 50% windshield is unreasonable per se. The problem might arise because that windshield looks quite dark to the po-po when they see it set against the 35% side window tints. In other words it will look darker than it really is and will be a magnet for getting stopped. Worse yet, I don't think they'll waive the Court appearance until they have definitive proof that you took the windshield tint off. One of my buddies went as far as to get an official opthalmologist letter stating that he needs the windshield tint due to a sensitive eye condition. The local cops really didn't give a crap. He still got stopped multiple times and wound up having to remove it:(

It is about any other road user that wants to ensure that an oncoming or turning driver sees them, and looks for that acknowledgement when they are driving defensively. It is simply that pedestrians and cyclists are more vulnerable. Having lived through a serious bicycle accident (we were on a bicycle path next to a roadway, and were hit by someone who wasn't looking, resulting in my wife spending three months in a hospital bed) I err on the side of 'off with their heads'. That shouldn't directly impact Justin, since he doesn't drive where I ride, but I don't support mods that endanger me and my family, and I empathize with cyclists that do ride in NY. (But if they are bike couriers who ride on the sidewalk, they get no support)

It matters very much to the other person who is doing his best to avoid being run over. Personally, I look for whether a driver is on a cell phone as well, as that multiplies the likelihood of a collision.

Jcl, your opinion is valued but it is also biased with your personal(horrific) experience. The fault of the driver is that of the driver and there ability to be safe. I personally take driving as a privilege. No cell phone use while driving, always stopping, always a safe distance behind other vehicles, etc. I'm very glad your wife is ok but people are our worst enemy and the elderly and idiots behind the wheel give people like me a bad rap. But with my front tint u can definitely see me from the outside of the vehicle. I'll be the one stopped, letting u walk by.

I love it! Looks great. Be careful when pulled over at night. Cops pulled their guns on me one night and only my back windows are tinted so far!!! I had my 4 year old in the car, I was so pissed at them!

Thanks blackhawk. 1ste53, cops r always cautious. I always roll down all my windows if I get pulled over....it relieves some tension for the cops
