Need help shutting off fan!

OK, so be researching here on Xoutpost, I figure I have a final stage resistor problem. (thanks, gang!) Whenever I shut my car off today, the interior fan keeps running. It's still running now after about 30 mins! I need to shut that off until I can get a replacement FSR, I can drive my other car in the meantime. Any ideas on how best to do that? Would pulling out the other fsr shut it off for now? I don't want to drain the battery (which i can disconnect for now, that's a way to shut it off). If pulling the fsr now will shutt it off, at least I'll have it prepped and ready for it's replacement.

By the way, it's an '01 E53 3.0i.

Thanks in advance! Pete.

Actually, I just got the fan shut off by disconnecting the negative on the batterry. When I reconnected, the fan stayed off. But I will not re-start the car until I've replaced the fsr. I'm assuming I don't need to disconnect the battery to swap the fsr, correct? If I'm wrong, please let me know.

Thanks again!

Could you have just pulled the appropriate fuse instead of disconnecting the battery? I don't know which fuse it would be on an 01..

Yes, but I didn't know which one. Was easy enough to quick disconnect the battery.
