BMW Changer in 2006 X5 plays Mp3s?

I was told by the dealer that the regular BMW Changer "82 11 0 028 760" plays MP3s. I am unable to confirm this information. A member of Roadfly forums told me it is true but I can't find it anywhere else online.
I do have the latest NAV Software (v.26) in my newly acquired 2006 X5 NAV/DSP.

Please let me know.

You can email me [email protected]

Thanks

you need latest V26 software and just replace the CD changer..

question is - WHERE DO I GET ONE... spoke to 3 dealers and they still dont have it..

The advantage of this one over Alpine is that it goes above 99 tracks and also displays CD TEXT info.

get the part number from them and let me see, maybe i can ask a few guys i know at the stealer.

genemish 11-21-2005 12:09 PM

Part number

they are saying it's same part # as before "82 11 0 028 760"..

but you have to make sure production date is 9/05 or newer..

X5Sport 11-21-2005 12:30 PM

The MP3 capability was supposed to come out from Oct 2004 production, but my Jan 2005 hasn't got it.

If you have V26 software plus an older (MY2005) changer - will it work?

genemish 11-21-2005 12:32 PM

dunno.. u try it..

X5Sport 11-21-2005 12:34 PM

Have to give it a go on my wife's 330CD as the multichanger in mine is disconnected. It's a 7/05, but for the price of a CD, gotta be worth a check.

called 1 dealer and the guy told me that part number has been around for a long time, he saids maybe the part number has not changed but they could had updated the firmware on the changer for the Mp3 function. plus he asked the sale manager that has the newer x5 and he said it does not play mp3.... :dunno: :tsk: :(

LeMansX5 11-21-2005 10:38 PM

The part # on changer changed since 10/2004
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...65&hg=65&fg=10

genemish 11-21-2005 11:05 PM

spoke to 2 dealers..

both say (independently) that this new CD Changer will be out dec/jan.. no part # yet.

Now I need to buy a used plain one to get by for 1-2 months..

I can confirm that the 2006 4.8is factory CD player plays mp3s without any modification. Only tried it because of this thread and was pretty psyched to discover it works. Have a nice Thanksgiving.

mrkbbd 11-24-2005 09:40 PM

when did you pick up your '06?

Are you talking about in-dash cd player?

genemish 11-25-2005 01:07 AM

Hmmm.. Part #?

That's interesting.. if it's the CD changer you're talking about then can you please tell us

1) The part # of your CD changer.. try looking on the back..
2) What NAVI Software version are you running?
3) do you see the TEXT of the song/file name on screen?

vinuneuro 11-25-2005 02:57 AM

I think it's wierd that BMW doesn't advertise these features. It's basically up to the owner to somehow find out that the changer plays mp3s. Think about all the X5 owners that haven't discovered X5world yet :tsk: .

Hans_ACS 11-25-2005 05:13 AM

I have seen a few OEM CD/MP3 players for sale on Ebay Germany already...

prism 11-25-2005 10:04 AM

Do we know if the CD changer reads MP3 if the NAV soft has been upgraded to V26? If not, this changer is the biggest piece of rip off junk on the planet! It cant even read CD-Rs!!!

jgoodman 11-26-2005 12:00 PM

Hi All,

Picked up my 2006 8 days ago. We are talking about a 6 disc changer in the trunk. I will see if I can get that part number, but I am not gonna pull the changer out so I don't think I can get to it. Will let you guys know on the nav version. I haven't looked yet. You do not see a text of the name on the Mp3s. I put 1 month of Phil Hendrie on an Mp3 disc podcasted to me with full tags. Segments read on the dash like this: 000-01, 000-02, and so on.

Perhaps youre burning you cds at too fast a speed. I usually burn the ones being played in the X at 4x or 8x. Our 2001 changer plays cdr's fine.

:iagree: - Prior to dumping my CD changer and going with the Dension IceLink Plus / iPod setup, I had no problems playing burned CD-R music CD's. Note that the songs on the CD had to be in "music" format, not in data or MP3 format.

AUssiePaul 11-30-2005 02:55 PM

My 05 X5 plays MP3's in the in-dash CD Player, but when I put a new CD with MP3's on it in the changer all I got was NOISE. Wasn't sure whether it was the file structure on the CD or whether it was the bitrate that I had the MP3's at?

genemish 12-07-2005 12:09 PM

Interesting find..

Here's what I found on REALOEM.com ..
