Non BMW used car warranty
 

06 with 51k.

Existing factory expired.

Anyone had good/bad experiences with non BMW warranty ?

In Germany? You should make your post more specific. Otherwise you're likely to get more opinions on US warranties.

Sorry. Vehicle bought and will be used in US.

Check the excellent thread on aftermarket warranties. Lots of good info. Fidelity comes pretty highly recommend from what I understand.

To the OP,
Many of us have/had Warranty Direct; most had good luck and few beefs.
I had zero beefs, but did not get my money's worth on what is basically
a pricey insurance policy. I also paid considerably less several years ago
when I bought it. From memory, prices are creeping up on WD's programs,
and other brand programs. You may bump into a "no claim time" period,
due to your current warranty expiring. I would avoid a bumper to bumper
level program, as you will really pay for it.

Many here have also skipped any ext warranty and just pay as they go...
The auto trans issue(s) might give pause for considering one, however.

Whatever brand you look at, carefully study the "not covered" sections...

Good info. I have looked at Fidelity Warranties and I would want something between the Drivetrain and Platinum ..say, Gold. We are looking at close to $5k for 36,000 miles.

In reality, my biggest concern is a transmission . I am leaning hard on the pay as you go route. With the wealth of info here, I am sure I can find the best price of parts and the best way to fix problems. I am just coming off my 03 with CPO and pre-paid maintenance and that really did give a lot of peace of mind.

I agree with what you are saying, the transmission is my biggest concern as well and might drive me to an extended warranty as well.

Check out Fidelity and, give Warranty Direct a web look/call.
I found negotiation was in the cards, vs a hard # that was quoted.
Be aware that some may give you a 30ish day Non-Coverage period.

Skip the top level(s), imo.

Agree that if I had an auto tran X, that would be my main cost concern,
to push me toward some coverage.
