no charge coolant flush

My warranty and maintenance is ending in august. It has been 4 years and I've only driven the 3.0i for only 13,000 miles :tsk:

I'm going to bring it in for one final time for a coolant flush and broken window regulator. My question is whether a coolant flush is part of the free maintenance. The manual states every 4 years but I can't find any literature that says its part of the maintenance program.

Depends on dlr, their 'tude, and maybe your relationship with that dlr...
I would also ask for a brake fluid change, due to "time" and regardless
of your mileage, and a "annual oil & filter change".

I do not have much of a relationship with hassel bmw. I have only been there once for an oil change and brake fluid flush on the third year. Much better service than life quality where I bought the car.

I was hoping that it was included in the free maintenance but it looks like another DIY for me.

If you are talking about the original 4yr/50k free mainatenance, yes coolant flush should be free assuming your ca still fall under the older plan.

Now, newer BMW models like my E60 535i and E92 335i are demeed to have lifetime coolant on it, way to go BMW. Maybe BMW try to be hip like apple computer, battery on iphone is dead chuck the whole phone.:wow:

I know when I checked on my 04 4.4i there is lifetime coolant and the dealer wouldn't flush/refill it for that reason. If your 3.0i doesn't have lifetime coolant, then you should be able to get it done because the coolant was presumably put in before your four year anniversary.

coolant and brake fluid are based on time from build date (on inside of drivers door). Our 04 3.0 qualified.

If your car is a 2004+ then coolant is deemed lifetime fill and not covered under the standard maintenance. That is the year the change over took place. 2003 models had maintenance that including coolant changes every 4 years.

It's a 2006. Manufactured 8/06.

My '04 3.0i also stated that it has the lifetime coolant. Strange why some are lifetime and some not :dunno:

Foose, are you sure you are getting one for free on yours 06 X5?

"lifetime" according to BMW wiki is: "we ain't paying for it"
