So:

1. Stock = Less loud than Crossover but deeper sound
2. No resonator with Crossover = Louder but not as deep as stock
3. With resonator & No mufflers = Louder than stock AND deeper sound than crossover (similar to stock)

Good Recap.

Now had I known this a week ago before deleting the resonators first...:banghead:

So does TowX have good point?? Does it really make a difference where exactly you put the x-pipe/crossover?

Only if you care about the impact on power/torque. There is a reason that exhausts are tuned for power.

If you just want the noise, then no, it doesn't matter.

From my experience, if you just want the noise leave the center resonator in place and replace the rear mufflers. Why pay for the torque of a V8 and give it up for more noise. Not that I'm against something sounding nice, heaven knows my 911 is plenty loud, and we've got a Flowmaster system on the V8 Explorer too. I guess I want it all- good sound and good power.

I was just on the magnaflow website and I see I apparently have a x-crossover. I thought mine sounded good, but if the actual x-pipe is louder I would definately replace mine with that.

wtf is the difference? Is one louder than the other?

MagnaFlow Performance Exhaust

I know this is an old post but I wanted to properly answer your question. The only difference between the two is the angles of the pipes. Our cars use the crossover because they pipe are pretty much parallel where the resonator is placed.

I have yet to install my Hartge Xpipe... they said it should bump it up to 5hp +/-
the quality and finish is just awesome so im not sure if i will be any different then a regular xpipe welded in place. Im sure Hartge did it for performance, its just that it costs way more then just a regular xpipe.

i'd be curious to see if your hartge does well over a regular x-pipe...keep us posted...

Yea, me too, I know Jegs makes an x-pipe that is cheap, but I'd rather spend the extra $20 to have something of better quality.

Crazy operation?

I know you will tell me that I'm crazy, but as for install the x-pipe I have to cut the original pipe, it could be a problem if I want to replace the stock exaust, so I would like to avoid strange cut of the original pipes.
But I'm not happy about the stock exaust sound, it seems the v6 sound.
Do you think that I'm crazy if I will make some holes in the final exaust, maybe under in a position not visible? Someone does this job?
