My First Inspection Light!!
 

I have my first inspection light came out last week and took it to the dealer today and was told to inspect it alone will cost $ 525,00. After all the inspection I was told there's a leak on my power steering and the charges for that is 410.00.
Do you think the dealer is being honest? This is my first out of pocket bill from them since my warranty just expired last year and my X5 got only 25,000 miles.

You dont' say where you are...and I've never had a dealer do an inspection. I do my own :-)

But...it doesn't seem completely unreasonable to me. If you plan on keeping it, find thyself a good independent BMW repair shop that's near you. It'll save you $$$ as you rack up the miles.

All the power steering hoses eventually leak. Usually due to the crimp on hose clamps. If your car is under warranty then the dealer will always say they are fine. If you car is one day or one mile out of warranty, then yes those hoses are leaking and need to be replaced all at your cost. Is it a rip off? You betcha. Either have them do the job or an indy or do it yourself.
