Turbocharge your X?

BMW X5 E53 1999-2006 2000 2001 2002 SINGLE TURBO KIT: eBay Motors (item 170474062130 end time Jul-15-10 17:54:06 PDT)

Came across this on ebay, have anyone actually done this?

I see 2 MAJOR missing parts. The exhaust manifold and the down pipe.

This kit is a joke. It even states you need to have exhaust manifold fabbed and that it is not bolt on. The biggest issue of all would be tuning the ECU.

Don't waste your time on this kit.

since no manifolds downpipes and engine management that kit isnt specific to any car, so why is it adverstised for a e53 ???

ekimv65 07-09-2010 06:12 AM

So whoever it is that is selling this crap can get some uninformed suckers to buy it.

powers1 07-09-2010 06:42 AM

Wouldnt exactly called it cra*!....For the money, the kit is well worth it!Just the cost of the T04 is more that what he is selling the whole kit for!Only thing wrong I see with kit ,are the intercooler pipes need to be flared or they get blow out by the boost pressure.
Its wrong that he is advertising as an X5 kit but he does state that its not a bolt on job and requires other parts and expert installation!Only X5 this is be universal for, would be the 3.0i but then the cost of putting it all together and fabricating parts to fit, would be 2 to 3 times the cost of the kit.
Still not a bad kit for someone who knows how to put it all together...

Yikes.

Then there's the tuning issues that must be addressed.

jyosh 07-09-2010 03:25 PM

who needs a custom tune when you can just get a RRFPR...totally kidding btw

typical chinese knockoff turbo. A real quality turbo will be at least double the price. You pay 550 plus shipping and you will have parts in a box until you find a compatible manifold. Once the system is bolted on you will blow out the turbo after the first few times making boost.

You need to contact TCD turbo or Miller Performance and see how much a real "bolt on" turbo system will cost.
