disconnecting NAV question

My MKIV unit is dead on my 2003 X5. It turns on/off as I drive. When it turns off, the whole LCD screen goes black and flickers. I don't really use GPS right now, so I was wondering if there is a way to disconnect the MKIV unit and still keep the on-board computer and radio display working on the LCD?
