Loud air intake noise
 

When the car is turned on and moved i really notice the intake sucking in air over the sound of the engine. Is this normal or is something wrong? i have never noticed this in any of my bimmers (same engine).

Also would this contribute to a cold start idle of 1000rpms?

It could cause a high idle if you have a vacuum leak somewhere. If that is the case you should get the check engine light on for lean mixture faults soon. How long has it done this?

No CEL, but long enough for me to foreget how long.

Maybe the idle control motor is stuck? That is metered air so it doesn't cause the mixture faults... Diagnosis with a GT1 could help as you can see what the idle speed is set at vs where it is.

I get that noise when I turn on the car on cold start. for about a minute or so. Then it dissapears. SES is on, but for timings. Have to get my Motor taken out and repair the shit out of it soon so I don't care now :D

Only for a minute or two on cold starts... is it the secondary air pump?
