Do you think I need to change tires immediately? or could I keep them for next 3000 miles with 50~70mph speed? ;)
thank you.

just drive it until the belt is showing

X5 Meister 07-16-2010 08:21 PM

What size are your tires and also which brand?

wigner 07-16-2010 08:31 PM

hi X5 Meister
it is a 285/45/19 inch tire. and michelin diamaris. how do you think of?
both rears are worn down but the driver side is worse. so I switched both. so the attached picture is for passenger side but originally was in driver side. front two are both ok. 32th week 2007 made and its been less than 3 years. and 21000 miles on it
thank you.

I drove my B'stone Turzanas into the ground, with that kind of wear...
I would not/could not promise you 300 miles or, the 3,000
miles you are looking for.
YMMV...Meister has a great deal with a group buy on V steins.

Thanks for Motordavid for the nice comment.

To be honest I think they don't look THAT bad yet and you can still get decent mileage out of them. I haven't experienced the Diamaris myself but I will say that I went through a set of rear Turanzas in about 25,000 miles and front Turanzas in about 50,000 miles. So effectively the fronts were gone by then, but I was honestly amazed how fast the rears went. Maybe your fronts are okay overall and you only need rears? If I were you honestly though I'd run your current tires to death, but at the same time buy a set of the Vredestein's for a price you will never see again. You can store them until you are ready to get them properly installed, balanced, aligned, etc. The group buy is effectively over this weekend, so don't mean to rush you into a decision, but I've had it extended out as far as I possibly could.

according to the mechanic u might need new upper control arms or an alignment. I+He told me that the inner tire wear is due to a toe problem. How many miles on your X?

wigner 07-16-2010 10:51 PM

60k miles How do you tell if a toe is bad?
thanks

Take it to a shop that can check the alignment which is most likely in need of adjusting. Or just wait until you replace the tires and then get an alignment.

The tires look fine for summer driving in Cali, so your are good for now.

change them now and ship them to me. i will use those for another 3 years...
