Hello all,
Thank you for having me I wanted to just introduce myself. I work for Ross' Rods & Kustoms and we are in the process of doing an 01 X5 for a customer and thought you guys might like to see the progress. It's kinda a unique build and we are pretty stoked about it. There are some before pictures and some in progress shots. I happened to find you guys when I saw a black X5 with the same body kit as this one pass me on the highway, I about broke my neck looking at the way the bumper was painted. Then I saw the liscense plate frame and here I am. ( She probably thought I was some homicidal manic, oh well) |
Looks like a lot of work went into it but Im not feeling it
|
it's looking ricey already. Gangsta

Welcome to the forum. :)
Reserving opinion until build is done. |
Criticism is appreciated, negative or positive. The pictures do portray it as a bit more ricey then the build should actually end up. We have taken a set of 7 series rockers and fit them to the body kit, loosing the rocker steps. We also made a set of newer 3 series mirrors fit the doors. Overall it should retain a very BMW look, while loosing alot of the utilitarian features that are neccessary on any production vehicle. With the roof rack gone and the vehicle lowered two inches, it has a very interesting stance in person.

door handle delete? Hmm odd choice
|
The shave of the handles was done to accentuate the body lines, its amazing how good those lines look when you loose the handles that break them up. Definitely not the easiest door handle shave we have ever done due to the bmw latch mechanism, but very much worth the end result.

Looks interesting.Look forward to seeing the end result

looking forward to the end product.

I am more amazed by what looks like a MK2 Ford Cortina in pic 2 .
how did that end up in the USA . |
:xoutpost:
It'll be interesting to see it when you're all done. Wondering who you passed in the black X5.... |

Good eyes, yes that is a Cortina. Jcl you are correct it is a gt, we were correcting a issue the customer had with the shop who painted it previously. Word of advice if you ever have anything painted, GET TO KNOW YOUR PAINTER. All paint is shiny for the first month, what you are buying is his work ethic and attention to detail. The difference between an application of paint and a quality job will not show itself until months down the road. Sorry mini rant, I hate to see people get taken advantage of.

Here's the latest pics, clear was shot this morning. The differences you see in the color hue are simply the difference between flash and no flash, the color changes that much.
|
Oh and the x5 I first saw was black with maryland tags that read "senegal"

It's a custom color from ppg's viberance line of paints. The color is called copper penny.
|
is there a special "drugs and guns" compartment hidden in the vehicle?
I kid, I kid.... |
Is the owner prepping this for show car with door handles deleted and all. SEMA or something? ;)
