key problem
 

Hi, been having trouble with my car key with it not locking/unlocking my car at times, but then it stopped working completley for around 2 months, but this week it has started to lock my car again, but it doesn't unlock it or release the boot, any ideas if its a new key that is needed?

the key started working for a few days but then stoppped again, surely it must be the battery in the key? if it needed reprograming surely it wouldnt ever work at all? any help appreciated
