Suspension POP/Clunk help

Hello All,

I have been reading hundreds of postings about this suspension pop coming from the front of the vehicle at low speeds and fast turns ect. I am having this problem on my 06 4.4. No shop has been able to diagnose the problem. Can anyone tell me what exactly needs to be replaced to get rid of this POP.

thanks

Mine is an 05 4.4 and it does the pop generally when I am reversing and turning the steering wheel to the left. Sounds like we have the same issue.

I have heard this too. I'm wondering if it is the swaybar bushings sticking and releasing somehow as mine occurs at the transition point in the driveway where the sway bar is just being loaded.

Check your sway bar mounts and links.

This is usually when mine makes the popping sound, backing out of my drive way or backing out of a parking spot. Are you guys talking about the sway bar or the sway bar endlinks?

The rubber mounts where the swaybar mounts to the subframe is where they are talking about, and they can cause the issue described. Maybe take them off and give then a quick shot of spray lube between the rubber and swaybar for diagnostic purposes.

IIRC, when I had this issue we replaced a ton of stuff. Sway Bars, Links, etc.

After replacing all that, my indie found a loose bolt on the subframe he said. Tightened it up, didn't ever happen again... Not sure what any of that means, but hope it helps!

Thanks for jarring my memory! On the E53 the aluminum stiffening plate can cause the noise, and just needs to be tightened. Check all 6 mounting bolts of the plate.

I think they are referring to bolt number #2 (3 on one side and mirror that over to the passenger side)

Quick question, should the car be loaded when ready to torque the bolts? Also should the rubber mounts be tightened when loaded as well?

THank you guys!
