OK, just got the X5 back from my trusted Indy. I had the brakes done - new pads/rotors (Axxis/Centrics), new water pump, thermostat, hoses, belts, CV joint & axle including a detail inside & out for $1,229 (including axle) plus I supplied the rest of the brake & cooling parts for about $650 - total job $1,879. Not a bad deal for all that work! Whadya think?

Check out the photos - she's like new inside and out! If you're in the Connecticut area, visit TRU Auto Mall and ask for Jose - he's the best detailer around and for $150, yours too will look new!

its all about looking after them, so many posts with people complaining about faults, you have to wonder how many are self induced thru user neglect and abuse.

same with boats, you can have a good quality boat trashed thru neglect and an average quality boat look sensational after 20 years because the owner looks after it and doesn't abuse it.

we pay so much money for these things, and yet when i was looking to buy my X5 i saw so many where the interior had been kicked to death,i dont get it

My X is almost near 90k miles today and it getting a new water pump and thermostat. All hoses looks pretty good so no need to replace it. Your X looks great:thumbup:

msammy,
Nice looking ride, and other than cleaner than mine, looks very
familiar! Congrats on heading to a 100k miles!

Exactly like mine :)
I already passed the 100K a little, and still amazed at how it looks and drives for an almost 10 year old vehicle...
Enjoy your sweet ride

Congrats - you are only about 100K behind me!!! :D

Nice, I had an E53 as well that I babied and did tons of preventative maintenance on that was still running great until about a month ago. Had 125,000 miles on it.

Then.

A 17 year old girl shot across two lanes into my lane. I t-boned her. Both cars totaled, everyone was O.K. and walked away. My X5 literally felt like I bumped into a pole in a parking lot even though impact was like 35mph.

Now sporting a CPO E70. enjoy your X and continue to take care of it. I miss certain things about the E53 but like others about the E70. It's a great looking car.

if you do water pump/thermostat and haven't done hoses yet, you'd better do them at the same time while you're in there.
they might look good, but trust me having one explode on you on the freeway is no fun hah and mine did so at hmmm 60k ish back in the day.
and it looked fine from the outside too :D
