2003 4.6is or 2005 4.4? Which To Go With
I am deciding between either a 2003 4.6is with 75,000 (2 owner) and a 2005 4.4 with 70,000 miles (2 owner). Both are full loaded. My question is that given these two X5's which would be the better choice? Both are very clean, no accidents, etc. Looking for thoughts and opinions please.

The 2005 has the advantage of the facelift and some nice engine improvements. However, the 4.6is is a limited edition model and in my opinion will be more desirable to own.
|
My thoughts exactly. I was wondering more along the lines of reliability and cost of onwnership as I hope to hold on to either for at least 3 years. I will get a pre-purchase inspection done regardless.

4.6is would be more unique and exclusive than the facelift model, however there are some significant differences, do a search and you'll see ..from what i remember there is a big difference in the way X drive changes from 2003 to 2004 among other, butyeah 4.6 def if u cannot go for the 4.8

'05 has a better driveline and parts are more common and cheaper. the 4.6 is a specific, limited model and will be more expensive to fix.

The 4.6's transmission will probably last longer too....

If you are going to park it and keep it for a long time, the 4.6.
If you are going to drive it daily, the 2005 4.4. |
I have a 2003 4.6is with 36k miles, runs great. I was thinking about selling it if you're interested.
