ok so i officially tested the safety of the vehicle. i can say with lots of confidence that i am perfectly ok. the truck suffered some damage pictures will be posted maybe you guys can advise on what to do but this sucks. F#$%#$% nyc cab drivers, i show my signal i am switching lanes and this reject :angryfire: hits me in the front wheel closer to the door then bounces off hits the rear of my truck then slides onto the sidewalk and hits the car infront of him. ahhhhhh i am soooo pissed.. do bmw dealerships do repairs? wtf do i do now

Glad to hear that you're doing well. Your dealer should have relationships with a couple good local body shops. Consult with them. Best of luck.

Relax, this kind of crap happens. At least it wasn't serious and you're fine. The X will get fixed.

NOC 11-24-2005 10:24 AM

Sorry to hear that, best of luck fixing your car and make sure they do a good job on it.

Try to find out who your dealership sub-contracts. Dealerships rarely have their own body-shops.

Find out who they use, and try to go directly. That will save you some money. Don't worry too much - this stuff is defintely fixable.

I was rear-ended by a Honda Civic during the summer. LOL it slid under the X5, and I just had my trusty local mechanic repaint the rear bumper. I didn't even need to replace anything.

Try to get this stuff fixed without contacting the insurance if it's a managable sum. I look at this way:

You claim something from the insurance, and then you'll fight them to get a god shop do it. Then you'll get a higher rate from then on. And you might even have your policy cancelled right after.

Unless damage is in the thousands, it's better to handle this yourself.

If you don't mind taking it to Long Island, I can highly recommend using Jefferson Auto Body in Manhasset. They are top notch and charge a fraction of what a BMW dealership will charge you. They're right next to the Manhasset LIRR station too so it's easy to get back into NYC once you drop the car off. It's a father/son operation, they've been in business for years and they do great work. PM me if you want more info.

thanks guys for all the calming, i actually have a shop where i had my other car repaired and one of my friends had his redone as well they do a great job... i just wasnt sure if BMW does its own. going to my local dealer is about 40+miles and on the X going there not really an option. ill post some pics maybe you guys can help with an estimate i figure not less than 1-3gs but thats just my estimage

drlaw2 11-24-2005 11:49 AM

Since I live in the same general area, let me (us) know who you use, and after the job is done, whether you are satisfied. I know that my dealer uses a guy in Yonkers who also does MB and other high-end cars. Supposedly a good guy.

BMW X5 11-24-2005 12:12 PM

thanks. as i said ive used that guy before they do a very good job flawless... its either that or a local pontiac dealership which has a relationship with my insurance. i dont know if i want to ttrust them. will probably do the estimate tomorrow but basically the front axel also needs to go along with the wheel :(
