Control arm bushings preload
I'm having trouble preloading these bushings. I'm redoing them because my steering wheel is going nuts again after 8k. I think it's because I wasn't aware they needed to be preloaded before tightening. Problem is that when I let her down they keep twisting. I'm using a lift, is there something I need to do to preloaded them properly besides just let it down and tighten???

thats why u need to drop the truck before u tighten them. if not they will try to twist when they are tighten and put stress on the bushing and cause premature failure

That's why I'm doing them again right now. When I drop the truck they stilllook like their twisting?

You may need to loosen the bolt through them a little more as the center sleeve in the bushing has "teeth" that bite into the metal when tightened.

Weasel you were right. I pulled the bolt out, let the arm swing down and opened the slot that it fits into with a pry bar. Only move a couple of mm but that's all it needed. This is my second attempt due to premature failure and what a difference preloading before tightening does!
