Need Help Urgent(Window Regulator)!!!
Yesterday, as I was driving I heard a pop(broken clip or something) coming from one of the door, and there you go another failure window regulator. Is the front passenger door that cannot raise or lower the glass and is stuck in the bottom position. This morning when I was tearing the door down and got everything remove and just couldn't get the bottom two screws that holding the regulator and glass out. I plug in the window switch but it couldn't raise the plastic clip that hold the regulator a bit. And there is no way for me to remove the regulator without raise the glass up. How should I go about it. Really need help here.

Cant you just move the window by hand to get the screws to line up with the access holes?
|
Maybe you just need to align the glass correctly on its track so that you can push it to where it allows you to unbolt?

Ok, today I had extra pair of hands help me push the glass up and the glass did slide up. But I was only able to lower the glass with the switch but can't raise it up. Is this faulty regulator and need to replace?

did you check the two black clips that hold the window to the regulator?
|
This happened to me before. The trick is to cut the metal wire of the window regulator to release the tension on the window. This will now allow you to move the window freely up and down manually.
Make sure you have new clips and a new regulator to install though, as your old one will be toast. I would replace the clips regardless as they are cheap and seem to break easily. Quote:

NONONONO!!! Do Not do this. you just need a small screw and a clip to repair it.. If the assemblyhas the broken nylon tabs which is the only part I've ever seen broken, you can fix it in 15 minutes with a screw and a metal clip.. OR you can fork out $550 for the stealer to put a new assembly in.. your pick...... |
