Yes, and weasel too, thank you.
So of course, after a good hour or so of smooth sailing, codes come back up.
Would the aftermarket exhaust sensor automatically throw the codes back at me ( I know I'd have to clear them but you can just tell the problem isn't solved by how its driving), or would it at least last for a little while?

It usually takes enough miles for the DME to see the signals aren't what they're supposed to be... The only way it throws the code really quick is if the signal fully drops out.

Try unhooking the battery and touching the cables (use a screwdriver) together overnight to basically force reset the ECU. If that doesn't work, then it could be a wire problem...I hope not!

Update- went to autozone, they actually carry the OEM exhaust sensor, however its says its Duralast. Put it in, running smooth for 2 days now. CEL still on however, but it holds a steady idle and no stalling. So, so far so good.
HOWEVER (theres always a however isn't there lol), now my gas gauge is acting very odd. Says I have an 1/8th of a tank, then let it run and restart it, and it says a half of a tank. When I leave the trip distance till empty up, it freaks out and jumps up and down... think there is any correlation?

It is good news to know that Autozone does have the OEM sensors. One wouldn't normally think they would, but has the part number and "BMW" branded on it, and the good ol' "Made in Germany" sticker in that oh so recognizable little black type. Could come in handy for you guys if you need to install them, saves $ on shipping.

FINAL UPDATE - Has been running smooth since the exhaust sensor was put in, and today while driving around the CEL finally went away! Sure was a damn good feeling, after all the hours and frustration caused by everything from Vanos solenoid cylinders that wouldn't budge, CCV hoses that so conveniently snapped and had to be replaced resulting in my hand looking like it fought a cheese grater, and parts that didn't work as they were supposed to.... plus being only 21 and balancing a full-time course load at a university.... http://www.xoutpost.com/images/smilies/thumbup.gif

M5James and Weasel, thanks again for the help on this one.
