HELP! QUICK!

I just bought my 2003 X5 3.0i a couple weeks ago. With a death in the family, I've not had time to "really" look her over.

I'm getting new shoes tomorrow for her and a four wheel alignment.

Funny thing: why do the rear wheels bow out so badly? Like it's pigeon-toed or something. I know some Euro cars look funny from the rear but this is rather pronounced. Normal?:dunno::yikes: The tops are inward toward the car while the bottom part of the tire bows outward; like it would wear the inside of the tire much faster but they look level.:dunno:

I've got the appointment for installing my tires tomorrow--9/8/10. Thoughts anyone? Or maybe I'm just dumb. I need some answers by Wednesday please!

completely normal, its called negative camber. i think they make it so that it has better handling around the turns. search negative camber and you'll find dozens of threads about it

Do you have fat family members that ride in the car? lol

even so, I'd keep close watch on tire wear - a re-alignment maybe needed - be sure whoever does it knows how to do a proper BMW alignment (weights are added inside the car)

Yeah, that's right!

Dummy me!:bustingupI just couldn't imagine it was out that far. I mean, like really.
Thanks guys for the quick answers and all the help. I now feel much better and can sleep good tonight knowing my new baby will have nice, new shoes on tomorrow evening. WooHoo.

If you've ever been on mye28.com, this is exactly how their forum works too. Everyone is helpful to one another. And that's what it's all about among beamters, eh?

Success!

:D Got the X5 aligned today and four new Yoko tires. Wow.:wow: What a difference. It was really out of alignment big time. But the real difference is in the ride quality with these new Yoko Envigor tires. Super quiet, good handling and overall well mannered.
Followed everyone's advice on here about specs and weighting of the vehicle while being aligned.
These guys did a great job aligning the X5 and balancing out the tires. Just a great job overall.:D
They did find one outer front CV joint boot ripped, so I just ordered a new one from BavAuto and will get that put on asap.
Thanks again, guys, for all your help and advice. I'm a happy camper now.
Oh no, wait. Just looked at the alignment sheet they gave me. It specs a 5 series E39 1997-2003 model!:(:dunno: Guess I'll be calling them in the morning.:thumbdown:banghead:!ouch::rant::swear:
