DIY Engine mount change 2001 4.4

Hi guys

I have searched this forum but to no avail.

Has anyone here changed a broken engine mount on a 2001 4.4 before, I was going to buy one from Ebay and change it myself but wanted to check with the experts first. i do have a 2 post hoist in my shed that i can lift in on to make it easier. Thoughts or suggestions greatfully accepted.

Cheers

Slugger

engine mount replacement

Just a quick update..I replaced both engine mounts myself. I am not a mechanic and I found it pretty easy and it took around 3 hours.
I used my 2 post car hoist but you could use a jack if you like working in confined spaces.
1)Remove top engine mount nuts(1 each side) from the top though the engine bay whilst vehicle is on the ground. You will need a couple of extension bars and a knuckle adaptor to get the length and angle right.
2)Lift vehicle on hoist
3)Remove aluminium cover(bash plate) from underneath engine, 6 bolts from memory. Whilst doing this you will be removing the bolts that hold the front tortion/sway bar in place.
4)Remove plastic guard under front of bumper to allos access to that area
5)Support engine with something under sump but use wood between it and any metal structure you might end up using as the sump is aluminium and can be damaged if you are not careful.
6)Remove lower control arms ends x 2 at wheel ends only
7)Remove K frame bolts(frame-work that holds the engine etc in place) about 6 to 8 I think from memory.
8)Remove power steering rack bolts x 2 to allow for everthing to drop down nicely.
9)Remove remaining bolts from engine mounts(2 each side)
10)Remove engine mounts and fit new ones
It may need two people to get the K frame back into position to get the bolts started initially.

Put everthing back together in reverse order, remember to check and recheck that everthing is tightened up as you go.

Hope this helps someone else in the same position

Appologies for the terms used etc as I said I am no mechanic..
