A puff of engine oil smoke?
 

'05 4.8iS while idling for a, lets say 7-ish min. and then jumping in to drive it of the driveway it gave me a puff of bluish smoke. Happened only once today while I went into house to grab some stuff to hit the road. After that behaved like nothing happened, any ideas?

how is your oil and coolant looking. Also do you have any visible oil leaks in engine bay?

Regarding oil, it shall be changed in the next 3k-4k km and by checking oil dipstick I found that aproximately 1L is gonne since last oil change (9k km). Coolant is clear, not sure if it was flushed by previous owner (probably not) so I will add that to the list. No leaks anywhere!

did you check oil separator/ ccv( not sure whats the setup on your engine)? It maybe blocked or oil return hose blocked so oil ends up in manifold. check intake manifold for oil

If it has only done it the one time, I wouldn't worry about it at all. You don't appear to be using any significant quantity of oil. The biggest concern is that you left it idling for seven minutes. Since you were at home and hadn't left yet, I am assuming it was cold then, and that is hard on your engine. Start it up and drive it as soon as you have oil pressure, in just a few seconds.

Thank you folks for your inputs. I am still new to BMW world and any unusual events like this one always throw a warrning light in my head.
In a week or two a vehicle is gonna be at the dealership for some minor CPO warranty work so I just wanted to know (besides my previous post) if there is anything else for them to check prior for winter arrival. I have been reading on this form for infamous CCV/Oil Separator issues due to cold wather and this is gonna be my first winter with my X.

I had two thin plastic hoses that move air around (don't know what they are called or exactly what they do) replaced because they were cracked. This caused the car to idle rough when cold. I would check the rubber cv boots for signs of wear. Many other items to check, but hopefully the dealership will do you right.

I recently had a somewhat similar experience with my 02 4.4 with 150k miles on it, but with a little more smoke. After (too long of a story to get into) some investigation, I found that the oil return hoses (2) that come from the "Crankcase breather valve" and the "Oil Separator" mounted on the rear of the intake manifold, that return oil to the oil pan had deteriorated causing all sorts of havoc. This is an inexpensive repair, but a little involved to locate and get to. Good luck!
