E60 M5 wheels on E53 X5?
1 Attachment(s)
I know a person getting rid of his E60 M5 wheels, and I'm not sure if I've ever seen them mounted on an X5 before. I'm needing new tires soon, so I was thinking about experimenting with this setup.
Now I know I'll have an offset disparity as the E60 wheels are: Front ET:12 Rear ET:28 But I'm curious if I will have any other serious issues? Spacers can be run I'm assuming for the offset difference, and it appears the bolt pattern and hub are the same for the sources I have seen. I can pick them up for a good price and I think they might look pretty good on the X5. This is the same style as the ones I'm looking at: |
Spacers probably wouldn't be necessary.

Looks awesome but you think it's capable on supporting such heavyweight SAV in the long run? looks like it's gonna look funky with bigger tires, too. I think that these tires are made for low profile tires, no? Just my input...

E53 Style 87 Front Wheel 9.5 ET45
E60 M5 Front Wheel 8.5 ET12 46mm more inner clearance Outer position extends 20mm Front arches would likely be needed E53 Style 87 Rear Wheel 10.5 ET30 E60 M5 Rear Wheel 9.5 ET28 15mm more inner clearance Outer position retracts 11mm Because front arches would likely be installed, rear arches would likely be installed. Rear spacers (30mm) would then be recommended. If you could run rears all around, the offset might be able to let you get away with not using arches in the front (and by proxy, the rear) and then use a 10-15mm spacer in the rear. |
Member TwinsPoppa has (had?) some. Can't remember if they are reps or OEM.

Tomcat - it's funny it was actually because of TwinsPoppa's E53 that made want the look! I think that style looks really sharp on the X5, and I have been waiting and looking for either this style or style 87's to come up for a good price for months now! |
I put OEM e60 m5 wheels on my. They looked ok from the side but the front stuck out way too much, you will definitly need front fender flares for this. The rear was ok, it fitted flush without any spacers but i wanted the rear to stick out further than the front. I would just pass on it man, it didnt look very good, it iritated me all the time knowing that the front stuck out too much. I went crazy and pulled the trigger on OEM 87s and my life was perfect after that. Twins POPPA car has replica 20" wheels on it. It looks alot better and bigger. It also fits properly. Trust me man, find wheels that fit properly on your car and dont put these wheels on your car. 20" wheels look better on the car anyway. I wish you had contacted me earlier, I just sold my style 87 wheels because I got a good deal on some 20" ACS type III racing wheels made for the X5. I think you should keep looking though. The style e60 m5 of the wheel does not look very good with the high profile tires.

Gorgeous wheels but JB is right, you need the arches and spacers for the back. I think the package would look really good though.
