Not another comparo
 

Just wondering what fellow members think about trading in E53 4.8is with either the E70 4.8i or the newer turbo six.
I am very happy with my 4.8is and not had any major issues (till now atleast) however recently went in for an oil change and checked out the newer models and was thinking about a trade in, anyone moved from 4.8is to 4.8i or the turbo six? please post your experience (dont have enough $$ for the 5.0)
I have been readin a lot of vs threads but i dont want to bash any of the models just want some feedback from members who have moved to the newer models.

I own N55 335i, which share the same IL6 twin-scroll engine as E70 X-drive35i; spec is rather impresive with 300HP/300lb-ft but E70 has about 400lb extra weight over E53 maybe the 8-sp trans help a bit.

I'll say go get the x50i with 4.4i twin-turbo(each trubo is twin scroll so it's like 4 turbos really) unfortunately my biggest concern will be M62 block that may inherit valley-pan problem and this time you have two turbo shells that may need to be remove when the gasket leak, not going to be fun.

Would love to go with x50i but not enough $$ for that now, have to wait till there r more of them in the pre-owned market.

So any member went from 4.8is to x35i?

Sorry man, but I believe there have been some objective comparisons which search will surely unveil. Sometimes they might get a little "bashy" but the consensus is that the e70 is heavier, more refined feeling, bigger, and until the 50i came out not as quick as the iS. Not sure if you put this in the e70 forum, but might get more bites there as that's where people who have made the switch will more likely hang out. I have only driven the 30i as a loaner and it felt really slow and bulky.
