Is this... because of that????? (pics!!!)

Well let me first start off by saying hi. This is my first thread/post here.
I just picked up my first BMW. Its a 2001 X5 4.4 (apears to be loaded) with 93K miles. Silver W/ grey interior.

A little about me.....
I just turned 30 years old (ugg). I'm married and have 2 kids. Ive raced MOTOCROSS my whole life, in 2005 I turned Pro. ( < --- biggest goal I ever set for my self... check !) and just recently gave up the sport to focus on my family.

Now, the X5.
I still wanted to have a "jem" in my life, after selling all my race bikes. So I reserched and could'nt say no to a X5. So I got this one. Why? Cuz it was way cheap! $13,000.

(It was the "is" wheels that I had to have, lol.)

Ive had it for a week now, and honestly..... Now I know what all the hype is about! Truck drives soooo nice! The craftmanship is out-standing!

BUT!

It does have a few little issues. (yes I serched first) First off the biggest grip I have is it has a light mis-fire at low RPMs. It happends between 1500 - 2000 RPMs and usally its when im just maintaining speed, not trying to accel.

So I poked around under the hood, and found this. (this is where the Title come into play)

At the back of the motor (under the cover) I found a oil leak. And it looks like the oil broke down some hoses. they are ripped and torn, and clearly are not doing what they are soposed too.

Also, IDK what these two things are. Could the oil leak have damaged them, causing my mis-fire?

Any help would be very apriciated!!! (My spelling sux, I know)

Congratulations on the purchase. I have a 2001 4.4i too (also used to race motorcross but not even close to the professional level).

The hoses you're referring to are the oil separator hoses. They were the cause of the engine misfires I had in my X5. Quick, easy, and inexpensive fix for you.

When you change out the oil separator hoses, its probably a good idea to give it some fresh spark plugs also since your already in there.

Here is the DIY: http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/...-e53-4-4i.html
