Houston BMW X5 Driver Slams Car Through Parking Garage Wall

It is always funny when I heard my friends complain my X's doors are too heavy...

Jordo 09-20-2010 06:17 PM

IDK, but I would buy those wheels off of him.

"Normal wear and tear. Small marks on the front bumper from parking"

stalklee 09-20-2010 09:20 PM

passengers even walked out of the car by theirselves before firetruck came. LOL

Look closer...I see the driver's air bag deployed.

hambone1983 09-20-2010 11:33 PM

wow!, but on the other hand I feel safe, half the sh*t on this beast is still intact, windshield, doors, you name it!

powers1 09-21-2010 04:31 AM

That wall didnt know what hit it...Didnt stand a chance:)

Allstarsrd12 09-21-2010 02:58 PM

someone should tell him his parking lights are on.....dont think he's going to be too happy when he comes back to a dead battery

Bawahahahahahahaha!!! Too funny!

Cole 09-22-2010 04:55 AM

hmmm... another case of the notorious tranny slam?

Novice driver creeping into parking, tranny slams into first and X lurches forward, the novice tramps on the gas instead of the brake... instant hole in wall.

RMak 09-22-2010 07:45 AM

That X5 still looks good after going through a 1 foot thick wall.

X5's are tanks!

daberg 09-22-2010 10:22 PM

If you look closely you can see both the driver and passenger front airbags deployed. They just partially deflated and are sagging a bit.

That lack of damage is pretty impressive. The wall was rebar reinforced.

Thats actually a feature believe it or not. When you get into an serious accident (like airbags deploying etc.) the car will automatically activate the hazards.

Watch this till the end and you can see the hazards activate automatically. Pretty cool feature IMO.

He/She is lucky that they crashed on the first level, imagine if they crashed through the side of the building on an upper level :D

Budarooski 09-23-2010 02:34 PM

I'm betting the person was parked, pulled BACK on the gear selector thinking it was going into REVERSE, looked backwards and hit the gas...before s/he knew it they became front page news.

It's the oddest thing to have to push the gear selector FORWARD to go to reverse. I don't get why BMW designed it like this. :dunno:

Yes, I'm referring to the E70...I didn't notice it was an E53.
