Saw one of these in SC while visiting family. Vowed to own one someday. You need to see this car in action.:wow:And funny thing, the one I saw was red too. |
Appears to be a dinan S1 or S2 package. That little car is a beast.

BMW M Coupe - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The clown shoe is a modern classic BMW. Especially the S54 powered 315 horse power version. Little beast for sure. The rear view is the sexiest part of it, imo. The fenders stick out like an old 911 turbo. As far as production is concerned, Wiki has it at 2,870 total M coupes. 690 of which were the S54 powered beasts. |
I like them, but Love the the new M Coupes. My wife wants one for quick trips to target. Check out the 2007 M Coupe

I just picked up an '08 Z4MC recently and couldn't get the grin off my face everytime I'm behind the wheel. I don't get the same feeling on an e46 or e92 M3. I don't see too many Z4MC on the road, even on these BMW filled roads of OC. There are only 4,275 produced worldwide and only 1,815 stayed in North America. |

By the way, my friend got a crazy deal on his M coupe. He bought it after production officially ended and it had been sitting at the dealer for quite some time. Apparently they never really sold that well. |
|
At least it's still coupe-like with the turtle top, awesome cars though. I bet top down road course drifting would be amazing!
|
That red m-coupe at the top of this thread is a local car. It has a supercharged s52.
EDIT: Jordo, I see you are from Lancaster PA, and have a 2002 X5 4.4, silver with style 87 wheels. Thanks makes two of us... LOL |
When I first saw the picture I was like "Where the hell in PA are there leaves?" LOL. Then checked the date.

Just taking a break from the valley pan on the M62. Not going to lie though, no offense to anyone but, the older M coupes were, well.... Ugly. I remember when they first came out and usually you see a new design on the road, your first instict is, "Wow, that is a sexy lookin' car. look at those lines." But when I saw the M coupe, it looked just nasty?!? I'm sure the little car was quick but that rear end did not appeal to me at all. I much preferred the SLK 32 AMG (Which i have). Wide ass, sleek nose and just classy.
I have to admit though, the Z4M, now that is a WAY better design. That coupe look great. Front looks awesome and just a hint of Ferrari in the back. I wouldn't mind owning one of those. Hey BMWNA if you are reading this. instead of arguing back and forth about my dead pixel problem and such, how about you just ship me a Z4M and we call it even? It's a fair deal right? |

Looks remarkably like the '65 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe, at least in profile... http://images.myride.com/images/vehi...400x300%29.jpg http://www.latestcar.us/wp-content/u...-edition-3.jpg Edit: And yes, I know that's the Le Mans Edition... |
hahahah, I have one too!
Someone asked why would you buy this over an E46 M3? If its not obvious to you, the Z3 MCoupe is one of the most unique BMWs, if not cars in general, that still gets 100x more looks and compliments today than the dozens of E46 M3s you can see any given day. It is truly one of the few modern classic bmws (E30 M3 withstanding) that you can still obtain, if you're lucky enough to find one. They're not for everyone and the people who own them are their own special breed. I'm in the process of restoring mine as we speak. |
I always wanted a 2001 M Coupe, in blue. Looked at a few, but never seriously. I don't think they re ugly, just distinctive, in the same way as a Volvo P1800ES is distinctive. They certainly get lots of looks.
Don't know that I'll ever get one, I dont' need a project now. And if I did get an older BMW, I think I would rather have a silver Z8. |
JCl. Ok, I concur about it being distictive and getting the looks. And that Volvo, ummmm. Yeahhhhh. I'm with ya though, I look at cars every once in a while and when I do I always get an itch to look for another Z32 TT or, or, or, should I say it? A V-12 E31? I always liked the E31 but, I've heard horror stories. But there are always 2 sides of the spectrum. I don;t know a lot about BMW's v12 design but some say it is the best engine ever produced from BMW and some say it is a slop fest with plaguing problems that cost a minimum 2K the minute you step in the dealership.

Funny, a friend of mine had an a nearly identical M Coupe with Dinan badges. He was a former BMW dealership owner, and had the M Coupe with the S54 engine and all kinds of Dinan work done. Same color and everything. Wonder if its his old ride...

That makes 3 of us from Lancaster now... Quote:

Why yes, that is the very friend I was speak of. I thought it was an S54 as he had waiting to have the work done, but I might be mistaken.
I can't say its the best looking BMW ever made... but hideous is a word I reserve for anything Mitsubishi makes  |

I hope the rear floor pan doesn't fall out like some of the Z3s back then lol. Looks nice though, not a big fan of the muffler setup there though. My guess is forced induction.
|
No one is a big fan of those ugly ass Dinan potato shooters...sorry!
|
yeah, yeah, yeah...everyone hates the Dinan exhaust...nothing new here. in this case, in the battle of form vs. function...function wins. it breathes extremely well...and sounds REALLY healthy...unlike a LOT of the crap out there. besides...if you're behind me, it's best to just settle in and get used to the view. ;)

the Z3 (this model) looked very good, especially when they used the blue convertible one in Goldeneye movie
