Hualingan/dynavin headunit upgrade
It seems that every where I look, what people post as pictures of hualingan are the same thing is what I've seen to be what some are calling the dynavin unit, and even some saying its Tv-in-motion.
I don't really get it. It doesn't seem to have a definitive brand. Even on the site of tv-in-motion, no once does it list a brand name, or even a company name. I don't exactly know if I feel 100% comfortable installing a unit that I can't even which company made it. Anyone else feel the same way? It sucks cause I'd really like to buy it, I just don't know what exactly to even look for. Does anyone have any concrete info on this unit http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...9-e53-diy.html and | BMW Headunit Upgrade | Navigation retrofit | e46 | e53 x5 | E39 | E38 |
fmugur installed Hualingan, I installed Dynavin both are similar products. So far so good. It looks like OEM; the unit light in orange color look exactly the same OEM. All functions are working good.

Are the OBC/MID functions working on your Dynavin! |
NO - if you don't want to lose it you can modify the power harness to move the original Radio to glove box. I didn't do it yet but if i want to put the MID radio back, it's not a difficult job.
|
So both would be perfect for me then, since I have non-dsp, and don't have the MID/OBC button right?
|
You have MID/OBC even though your X doesn't have DSP.

Your biggest challenge will be getting your hands on one of the two units. I ordered mine but from what I am reading on other sites it can take several weeks before it ships and a few more before you get it. I went with the Hualingan unit and ordered it on the 23rd but I have not received a tracking number yet. But that seems to be the common problem right now.

Will definitely be going with the hualingan. Like the look better, seems more OEM-like.
I do have MID/OBC, but only to a certain extent, limited to the little display on my cluster. My BC button is on my blinker switch. Dont have one on my radio. Think its because its a Canadian model |

I ordered my Dynavin thru bimmian.com. I installed the unit last saturday night and it took me around an hour (removing the glove box to run GPS antenna took me 30 minutes).
Over all, it looks good and working good. I like this unit. Here are some photos that i took during installation.http://sites.google.com/site/khuelecorp/gps1.jpg http://sites.google.com/site/khuelecorp/gps2.jpg http://sites.google.com/site/khuelecorp/gps3.jpg http://sites.google.com/site/khuelecorp/gps4.jpg |
